To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Yissachar Dov (Rav I. D. Gurvitch, director of the Beis Rivkah of Yerres, in the Parisian region),

Greetings and blessing,

I received your letter of the eve of Shabbos, with the request for blessing that was joined to it and of which I will give reading near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.

You evoke what it is fitting to do during the vacation. This lasts approximately two months and the students (of Beis Rivkah) return then to their parents. In general fashion, it is good to shorten the duration of the vacation. Our Sages say, indeed: "If you abandon Me one day, I will abandon you two days."

Nevertheless, the current organization has existed for many years and your letter emphasizes the necessity of adopting a conciliatory and diplomatic attitude. For all that, I have good hope that you will succeed in convincing a good number of students of the necessity of a change and of a diminution of this duration of vacation.

Perhaps it is possible that not all of them return home at the same moment. Thus, the students coming only for the vacation will be in contact with those who are there permanently. The modalities and the dates of the examinations will be fixed in function of that.

Quite obviously, it is not excluded to suppress, for the students of Beis Rivkah, the summer vacation and to replace it with the ten days of Teshuvah*, when the study is, in any case, troubled. In summer, one will modify only the content of the studies, in function of the students, by making it easier and more attractive or even by reducing the time.

All that must be decided on the spot. You will doubtless take counsel with the Chassidim who know the situation, there. And, it is said that "salvation comes through many counselors."

We approach the liberation festival of 12 and 13 Tammuz, that of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, head of Yisrael. May Hashem therefore grant that the body follow the head. May Hashem confer success upon all the Chassidim who are attached to him or even simply linked, so that they succeed in diffusing Yiddishkeit*, in general, and Chassidus*, in particular, in good health, in material opulence, and with a broad spirit.

קבלתי מכתבו מעש"ק עם הפ"נ המוסגר בו שאקראהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובמ"ש אודות הנהגה לימי הוואקאנס שנותנים לערך שני חדשים חופש שאז חוזרות התלמידות לבית הוריהן. הנה בכלל יש לקצר זמן החופש וכידוע מרז"ל [...] תעזבני יום יומים אעזבך אלא שכיון שכבר הורגלו בסדר הנ"ל איזה שנים וכנראה במכתבו יש להתנהג בנעימות ובאופן דיפלומטי אבל תקותי שאצל חלק חשוב מהתלמידות יפעלו שינוי זה שעכ"פ יקצרו בזמן החופש ואולי אפשר לסדר שלא כולן יסעו בבת אחת ובמילא יהיו התלמידות שבאים לימי החופש תמיד בחברותא של אותן חלק מהתלמידות התמידיות ובהתאם להנ"ל יש לסדר אופן וזמן הבחינות. מובן שאינו מופרך ג"כ ביטול זמן חפש לתלמידות בית רבקה באמצע הקיץ ואפשר לקבוע זמן החופש בהזמן דעשי"ת וכיו"ב שבלא"ה אין לומדים כדבעי ובימי הקיץ רק לשנות סדר הלימוד מתאים לסוג התלמידות היינו אם רק לשנות ללימוד קל ומושך הלב או גם לקצר בהזמן ובענינים כמו אלו יש להחליט על אתר ובודאי יתייעץ עם אנ"ש היודעים את המצב שם ותשועה ברוב יועץ.

ולקראת ימי הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ראש ישראל, הנה יה"ר שיהי' גופא בתר רישא אזיל אשר יצליח השי"ת את כאו"א מהחסידים המקושרים אליו או השייכים אליו להצליח בהפצת היהדות בכלל ובהפצת תורת החסידות בפרט מתוך בריאות הנכונה פרנסה בהרחבה והרחבת הדעת.
