To the Chassidim* and the residents of Kfar Chabad*, in our Holy Land, may it be rebuilt and restored, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings in great measure and blessing without limit,

I have duly received your request for a blessing and I read it, before Rosh Chodesh* Menachem (Av), at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, our leader, leader of all Israel, whose merit will protect us. Without a doubt, he invokes Divine mercy for each and every one of you, so that you obtain the satisfaction of your material and spiritual needs.

I have already explained, on many occasions, basing myself on what is said in various texts of Chassidus*, that we must reveal the wellspring and bring it to light down to the lowest point, in this material world, which is the Sanctuary of Hashem.

To achieve this, one must give tzedakah*, as several chapters of Iggeres HaKodesh* explain. And, the receptacle for this is peace, as our Torah says, at the conclusion of the Talmud: "HaKadosh Baruch Hu* found no other receptacle to contain the blessing for Israel than peace."

And, you know the proclamation of the Tzemach Tzedek* (see, on this subject, letter no. 1971): "Alef, Beis — Ahavah, Berachah — love, blessing." The more you develop the Alef (love), the more HaKadosh Baruch Hu* will grant the Beis (blessing; for the blessing is revealed only through love). For persons such as yourselves, it is surely unnecessary to say more.

In these days that will be transformed into joy and gladness, as the prophet has given us the assurance, one can repair the cause of all of this, the cause of this last exile, stated by our Sages, in tractate Yoma 9b (i.e., baseless hatred). This repair will transform it from one extreme to the other, so that darkness will become light, bitterness will become sweetness. There will be much peace, much love and therefore many blessings, material and spiritual.

In the expectation of good news in all the points that have just been mentioned, each depending on all the others.

שלום רב וברכה עד אין קץ!

נתקבל הפ"נ שלהם אשר קראתיו לפני ר"ח מנחם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע נשיאנו ונשיא ישראל ובודאי מעורר ר"ר על כל אחד ואחת מהם בהמצטרך להן הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.

וכבר מלתי אמורה כמה וכמה פעמים על פי המבואר בכ"מ בדא"ח שצ"ל ההמשכה מן המקור כוונתינו להמשיכה למטה ממש בעולם הזה שדוקא הוא הדירה לו ית', והנה זה נעשה על ידי מעשה הצדקה וכמבואר באגרת הקדש בכו"כ סימנים והכלי הוא ענין השלום וכסיום וחתימת תורתנו בש"ס לא מצא הקב"ה כלי מחזיק ברכה לישראל אלא השלום, וכבר ידועה הכרזת כ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק; אל"ף בי"ת, אהבה, ברכה. וככל אשר יוסיפו בהאל"ף - מובטח הקב"ה להוסיף בהבי"ת והאריכות לדכוותייהו בודאי אך למותר.

ובימים האלו שכיעוד נביאנו יהפכו בקרוב לששון ולשמחה במילא תתוקן ג"כ הסיבה לזה סיבת גלותנו האחרון כמרז"ל יומא ט, ע"ב, ובתקון דאתהפכא מן הקצה אל הקצה חשוכא לנהורא ומרירו למיתקא ריבוי השלום ריבוי האהבה ובד"מ ריבוי השפעה הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
