To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Nissan (Rav N. Pinson, of Casablanca, Morocco),

Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of 29 Tammuz. I thank you for announcing to me good news, the increase in the number of students, boys and girls. This increase will doubtless be qualitative as well.

Nevertheless, I pose myself the following question. Your letter indicates that the oldest students are thirteen years old. It is clear that you must do everything so that at least a good portion of them remain, even after that.

Even if this practice goes against the custom that the country has had until now (due to the necessity of providing secular education to the children), one must endeavor to explain that one can earn a livelihood by being a teacher or a shochet*, for example. Moreover, one then earns it materially and spiritually at once.

By conferring with one another (with the other emissaries of the Lubavitch movement in Morocco), you will find the means of explaining all of this, of doing so in a fitting manner, by determining the most effective approach. For, it is said that "salvation comes from many advisors."

You conclude your letter by saying that some students, boys and girls, will go to the summer camp ("colonie de vacances" in the original French). In addition to the teachers, men and women, who will be with them permanently, you yourself will go there at the beginning and several times afterwards. You know the advantage of being able to arrive at any moment, which, in itself, makes it possible to rectify what must be rectified.

ומה שקשה בעיני הוא מהנראה ממכתבו שגיל הת' הוא עד י"ג שנה, ומובן שצריך להשתדל ביותר שעכ"פ חלק חשוב ישארו ללמוד גם אחרי זה, ואם גם זהו היפך מנהג המדינה שעד עתה - בכל זה יש להשתדל ולהסביר שמשרת מורה שו"ב וכיו"ב הרי זהו ג"כ ענין של פרנסה ואדרבה פרנסה גשמיות ורוחניות גם יחד, ובודאי יתייעצו ביניהם וימצאו הסברה המתאימה ואופן המתאים לההסברה ותשועה ברוב יועץ.

מסיים במכתבו שמספר תלמידים-ות יסעו להקאלאניע ווקאנס, ובודאי נוסף על המורים-ות שיהיו עמהם בקביעות הרי בתחלת הדבר ומזמן לזמן יבקרו גם הם שם, וידועה המעלה בנכנס ויוצא שאפילו האפשרי של זה לחוד ג"כ מתקנת.
