17 Menachem Av 5714,
Brooklyn, New York.

Greetings and blessing,

I have duly received your two letters of 18 Tammuz and of 4 Menachem Av, in which you ask me about a possible change in the way you earn your livelihood.

During all these years, you have worked for the Yeshivah* Lubavitch and you have been able to observe the success that has resulted from it for you. You must therefore not abandon this receptacle and this channel, Heaven forbid.

It seems to me that you must preserve your sacred mission, even more, intensify it, if this is possible. And, one must hope that the Yeshivah* will develop. Thus, it will be able to increase your salary and the means of your sustenance.

Obviously, if you can have another means of earning your livelihood that in no way contravenes your sacred mission, this is not problematic. It is necessary, however, that this condition be respected.

May Hashem grant that the pregnancy of your wife proceed well and that she have, in its time, a healthy child.

With my blessing,
