To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Michael (Rav M. Lipsker, of Meknes; see, concerning him, letters no. 2311 and 2945),
Greetings and blessing,
As I wrote to you last year (in letter no. 2233; see also letters no. 2855 and 2945), I continue to think that one must teach the students, the boys and even the girls, the importance of the days of Selichos* and, more generally, of the month of Tishrei*. If not all the students, at least a large portion of them will remain at the Yeshivah*.
One must therefore equip them for these days of awe and joy, in accordance with their capacities and their surroundings. One must, of course, make use of what was explained on the Shabbos* that blessed the month of Elul* 5711 (1951, by the Rebbe himself). I enclose a copy of this text, which has been reprinted.

... ע"ד שכתבתי אשתקד הנה גם עתה דעתי שצריך להדריך בהתלמידים ואפילו בהתלמידות הענין דימי הסליחות וחדש תשרי, ואם אי אפשר יהי' עכ"פ חלק מהם יהיו בכותלי הישיבה, הנה צריך לתת להם "צידה" לימים אלו הן לימי היראה והן לימי השמחה מתאים לכשרונותיהם והסביבה שלהם. ובטח יש להשתמש בזה המבואר בש"ק מברכים אלול תשי"א ומוסג"פ הוצאה שני' ממנה.
