To the eminent and distinguished man, Chassid* who fears Hashem, distinguished by his good sentiments, has good knowledge, the Rav Michael (Rav M. Wilenski),

Greetings and blessing,

I have duly received your reply, through the intermediary of my secretary, Mr. Nissan Mindel, and I thank you for it. You write to me that you are ill and I hope that, upon receipt of this letter, your state of health will have improved.

I thank you for having informed me about the four manuscript collections of Chassidus* (see, on this subject, letter no. 2953). Three of them are from the Tzemach Tzedek* and I would like to know whether they have already been published. Obviously, if this entails expenses, I will bear them. I thank you very much.

Likewise, Mr. Mindel told me that he wrote to you concerning the pamphlets on the thought of Israel, which were published by the institute of Cincinnati. I would like them to be in my library and, in your letter, you did not respond on this point. I hope you will do so at the next opportunity.

Insofar as we have become acquainted, I permit myself to ask you what your situation is. Obviously, if my intervention can be of any use, I will grant it most willingly.

I enclose a pamphlet on the Tzaddik*, Rabbi Hillel of Paritch, recently published. I do not know whether your father (the Chassid*, Rav Chaim Dov Ber Wilenski, of Krementchug) was also one of his disciples. If so, he may perhaps recall some stories he heard about him.

בתודה נתקבל המענה שלו ע"י מזכירי מר ניסן שי' מינדל, והנני מקוה שמה שכותב שהי' חולה הנה לעת קבלת מכתבי זה כבר הוטב מצבו.

ת"ח על הידיעה בענין ד' ביכלעך דא"ח אשר ג' מהם הם מאדמו"ר הצמח צדק, ואתענין לדעת אם הם מהנדפסים או לאו, ומובן שאם זה קשור באיזה הוצאות, אסלקם בתודה רבה.

כן מסר לי מר מינדל שכתב לכ' ע"ד קבלת החוברות וכו' בחכמת ישראל שהופיעו ע"י המכון בסינסינאטי שמתענין אני שימצאו בספרי' שלי, ועל זה לא ענה כ' במכתבו והנני מקוה כי בהזדמנות הבאה ימלא גם זה.

בהמשך להכרתנו מאז, ארשה לי לשאול למצבם, ומובן שבאם ביכלתי לעשות מה בזה, אעשה זה בחפץ לב.
