Greetings and blessing,

I learned, with sorrow, that you are not in good health and, above all, that you are somewhat discouraged. I am astonished by this, for you and, more generally, for all those who belong to this generation, received the protection of Hashem and are firebrands saved from the flame.

How can you be in doubt after having observed Divine Providence with your own eyes? Certainly, the doubt does not affect faith, Heaven forbid, but the faith remains only superficial. For all that, it does taint the sentiment of the heart. But, Hashem is the Essence of good. Now, it is in the nature of He Who is good to do good and it is thus that Hashem regulates the smallest detail of the existence of men.

If this faith and this awareness were more deeply felt by man, there is no doubt that he would rejoice in his lot. He would then be in better health, would redouble his ardor in his service of Hashem and would be better able to fully assume the mission that the Heavenly Man entrusts to him here below.

Certainly, it is necessary to systematically follow the ways of nature, as it is said "in all that you do." Various texts explain why this is so, in particular the end of the Kuntres UMaayon. Consequently, one must follow medical prescriptions, but not become passionate about them.

If you wish to listen to my counsel, take a week or two of vacation in order to calm your mind. Calm and rest will enable you to regain your health. After this interruption and having made the firm resolution to serve Hashem joyfully, you will continue your activity, in good health and with success.

With my blessing for giving good news, of yourself and of all the members of your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

נצטערתי לשמוע אשר מצב בריאותו אינו כדבעי והעיקר אשר יש אצלו איזה נפילת רוח ולפלא עליו ובכלל על כאו"א מדורנו זה ששמרם השי"ת ונשארו אודים מוצלים מאש אשר לאחר שראו השגחה הפרטית הלזו בעיני בשר עוד יש ספק אצלם - ואף כי לא ח"ו בכח האמונה בדרך מקיף , אלא בהנוגע להרגש הלב - אם כן הוא אשר השי"ת שהוא עצם הטוב ומטבע הטוב להיטיב מסדר את חיי האדם לפרטיו ופרטי פרטיו, כי אם היתה אמונה זו והבנה זו חודרת גם לההרגש של האדם הרי בודאי שהי' שמח בחלקו ובמילא היתה גם בריאותו כדבעי והי' מוסיף אומץ בעבודתו במילוי שליחותו של האדם העליון בעלמא דין, ואף שבכל ענין צריכה להיות אחיזה בדרכי הטבע וכמ"ש בכל אשר תעשה (והטעם בזה מבואר בכ"מ ומהם בקונטרס ומעין קרוב לסופו) ולכן צריך לשמור למלאות הוראת הרופאים, הרי ההנהגה בזה צ"ל בלא לב ולב וכידוע, ואם לעצתי ישמע הרי יקח לו חופש לשבוע או שבועיים למען הרגיע את מצב רוחו וע"י השביתה והמנוחה לחזק את בריאותו ואחרי הפסקה זו ובהחלטה גמורה לעבוד את השי"ת מתוך שמחה יוכל להמשיך עניניו ועסקנותו מתוך בריאות הנכונה ובהצלחה.
