Greetings and blessing,

I reply to the question you pose me, in your letter of 23 Menachem Av, concerning the manner of learning the laws and the craft of shechitah* and the various possible schedules. You will take counsel with the elderly Chassidim* who are in your location. They know the local conditions and your aptitudes.

Nevertheless, the Decisors, the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe* and the responsa of the Tzemach Tzedek* emphasize that a shochet* must be animated by a profound fear of Hashem and study Chabad* Chassidus* abundantly, which arouses, in the mind of man, the Lower Fear and even the Upper Fear of Hashem, as the Tanya* explains in various places.

Above all, the receptacle enabling one to receive all of this is fervent prayer. And, if you truly desire it, you will meet with success.
