Greetings and blessing,

After a long interruption, I received with pleasure your letter of 5 Menachem Av, in which you announce good news, the obtainment of your rabbinical position. The other areas are also being arranged and you know what our Sages say, in tractate Bava Basra 12b, about one toward whom kindness is shown ("whoever receives Divine kindness obtains it in a lasting manner").

As you request, I will mention the names of all those you indicate near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, so that they obtain the satisfaction of all their needs, as you write.

You ask me whether you should participate in a Torah journal (by writing articles for it). Everything depends on its form. Will its purpose be to permit all manner of practices? Indeed, certain circles have adopted as their motto the statement of our Sages according to which "the power to permit is much greater" (the role of the Rav is to seek the means to permit and not to forbid). Now, we regret the permissions that have already been given.

Of course, it is not the same if it is a matter of commenting on the Torah (without ruling on halachah*). The decision is therefore conditioned by this. In general, one can determine the form of a journal by knowing those who direct its editorial board and set its orientations. Concretely, one can only take a position after the publication of a first issue.

May Hashem guide you on the good and straight path and there is no good other than the complete Torah, imbued with fear of Hashem.

I am surprised that you do not tell me on what date your wedding has been set. It is a pity to delay it endlessly.

לאחרי הפסק הארוך נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מה' מנ"א בו מבשר טוב אשר קבל כבר הרבנות... ולאט לאט מסתדרים גם שאר הענינים, והרי ידוע מרז"ל (ב"ב י"ב ע"ב) כל המטיבין לו וכו'.

כבקשתו אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך להם, וכמו שכותב.

במה ששואל חוות דעתי אודות השתתפות בחוברת תורנית, הנה תלוי זה באופי החוברת, היינו אם תשמש להכשיר ענינים שונים - (וכידוע השיטה באיזה חוגים שקבעו לסיסמא שלהם מרז"ל כחא דהיתרא עדיף) - הרי על הראשונים אנו מצטערים, ואם הוא ענין של יגדיל תורה ויאדיר הרי מובן שמתאים לזה משתנית גם ההחלטה, וע"פ הרוב יש לברר הנ"ל רק ע"י היכירות קרובה עם העומדים בראש והמחליטים בכיוון החוברת, וברובא דרובא מתברר זה רק לאחר הופעת חוברת הראשונה עכ"פ.

והשי"ת ינחהו בדרך הישרה והטוב ואין טוב אלא תורה תמימה ביראת שמים.

לפלא שאינו כותב על דבר קביעות זמן החתונה, וחבל על אשר ממשיכים ודוחים זה.
