Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of the eve of Shabbos*, in which you tell me that you have committed yourself, without making a vow, to establish a Talmud Torah* for the children in the place where you reside. You are surely alluding to a place where the true Torah, our holy Torah, will be studied.

May Hashem cause that you meet with success in this and that you see the fruit of your effort. Our holy masters say that Hashem acts "measure for measure." He will therefore grant you His aid, so that you and your wife will educate your children to Torah, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds.

In everything one undertakes, one must have the aid of Hashem, in particular when one is in the "land toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." The responsibility is then even greater. A man cannot demand of Hashem. He can only solicit His gratuitous kindness. One must therefore multiply tzedakah* and good deeds here below. Thus, Hashem does the same on high.

Consequently, each weekday, before the prayer, you will give several coins to tzedakah*. After the prayer, you will read some Tehillim*. Moreover, in our generation of the footsteps of Mashiach*, it is a mitzvah* and a merit to establish the study of the hidden part of the Torah, which has been revealed and commented upon by Chassidus*.

May Hashem grant you success in all these domains.

I will read the request for blessing in your letter near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.

With my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year and awaiting your good news in all that has just been said,

במענה על מכתבו מעש"ק, בו כותב אשר קבל ע"ע בלי נדר לסדר במקום מגורו תלמוד תורה לילדים, ובודאי כוונתו לתלמוד תורה [ב]מובן המלה תורה האמיתית תורתנו הק'.

הנה יה"ר מהשי"ת שיצליח בזה ויראה פרי טוב בעמלו, וע"פ פסק רבוה"ק שמדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה ימשיך את הסייעתא דשמיא שהוא וזוגתו שיחיו יחנכו ויגדלו את ילידיהם שיחיו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים.

וכיון שלכל דבר וענין צריך סייעתא דשמיא ובפרט בארץ אשר עיני ה' אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה ובמילא האחריות יותר גדולה, והרי אין ביד בן אדם לתבוע כי אם לבקש מהשי"ת בתורת חסד חנם, צריך להרבות בצדקה וחסד גם למטה שאז מרבין בצדקה וחסד מלמעלה, ולכן נכון שבכל יום חול יפריש קודם התפלה איזה פרוטות לצדקה ולאחר התפלה בכל יום יאמר איזה קאפיטלעך תהלים, ובדורנו זה דרא דעקבתא דמשיחא מצוה וזכות לקבוע שיעור לימוד בפנימיות התורה שנתגלתה ונתבארה בתורת החסידות. והשי"ת יצליחו בכל הנ"ל.
