Greetings and blessing,

I was pleased to learn that you have established all these classes and especially that they are increasingly well attended. You will doubtless multiply your efforts in this direction and, indeed, these can never be too great, given the importance of this accomplishment, especially if one takes into account the statement of the Alter Rebbe* that Chassidus* is addressed to the entire Jewish people.

Consequently, whoever acts in this manner realizes the heartfelt wish of the Alter Rebbe*, by multiplying, in his community, those who have drawn closer to Chassidus*, to its teachings, its practices, and its customs.

The fact of having assigned the Chassidim*, in turn, to recite Chassidus* (by heart, on the occasion of Shabbos* and the festivals) is particularly judicious. It would be good for this manner of acting to be envied in the other branches (presumably of the Association of Chabad* Chassidim*) and for it to be adopted there as well.

It is surely unnecessary to emphasize to you that one must include, in these classes, knowledge of the commonly applicable laws (see, on this subject, letter no. 2856), set forth in Orach Chaim*, especially since, in various circles, this study has been neglected to the point that when one must act, one does not know how to do so, what is permitted and what is not. One can concretely verify that this is so.

The importance that our holy masters accorded to such study is well known. One can also establish it by consulting the introduction of the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*.

As you request, I will mention your name and that of the members of your family near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing, I express my wishes to you and to all of yours, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

... נהניתי ממ"ש אודות השיעורים השונים שקבעו והעיקר אשר מתרבה חוג הלומדים, ובודאי ישתדלו בזה ביותר, ובפרט שאליבא דאמת אין שייך בזה לומר ביותר כי איזה השתדלות שתהי' אי[נ]ה מספיקה בערך גדולת הדבר, ובפרט בהביא בחשבון מאמר רבנו הזקן שתורת החסידות הוא בשביל כל עם ישראל שבמילא כל העושה בכיוון זה ממלא הוא משאלות לבב רבינו הזקן ע"י שנתוסף עוד בקהלתו אלו שנתקרבו לחסידות תורתה הדרכותי' ומנהגי'.

נכון במאד מאד מה שהטילו על כל אנ"ש לחזור דא"ח לפי התור, ומה טוב שגם בשאר הסניפים יתקנאו בזה וינהיגו הענין גם במקומם.

בטח למותר לעוררם אשר בהשיעורים שלומדים צ"ל גם כן שיעור בהלכות הצריכות מאורח חיים, ובפרט שהוזנח לימוד זה בכו"כ חוגים עד כדי כך שכשבא מעשה ליד אין יודעים איך יעשו ואת אשר יעשו ואשר לא יעשו, וכפי שמעיד החוש. וכבר ידוע עד כמה רבותינו הק' הזהירו על לימוד זה וכנראה ג"כ בהקדמת שו"ע דרבנו הזקן.

כבקשתו אזכירו ואת ב"ב שיחיו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
