To the young man, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Machlouf (Rav M. Krispin),

Greetings and blessing,

I duly received your letter of 19 Elul*, to which was appended the list of students (of the Lubavitch school of Casablanca, Morocco), as well as your request for blessing. I thank you for having described to me the organization of studies and the division of classes.

It is doubtless unnecessary to remind you of the ruling of our holy Torah, Torah of life, according to which one must know elevation in the domain of Holiness. You will therefore not be content with the current situation. You will improve it, quantitatively and qualitatively, by the number of students and by the level of studies.

Obviously, to have more students, one must increase the number of teachers, here too quantitatively and qualitatively — that is to say, by their Torah knowledge and level of practice, but also by their depth of comprehension and the best manner of fulfilling the mitzvos*.

Hashem asks us to accomplish all of this and we therefore necessarily have the strength to do so. And, the result is commensurate with the effort (literally, "the mark on the back of the camel is commensurate with the weight of its burden").

May Hashem grant you a pure fear of Him, according to your level, in order to strengthen your practice of the mitzvos* in general and your pedagogical action in particular. Hashem will grant you success.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing, may Hashem cause that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year, that you find the match that suits you (Rav Krispin later married the daughter of Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira, "Baba Sali"), materially and spiritually.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מי"ט אלול בצירוף רשימות התלמידים וכן הפ"נ שלו, מיום הנ"ל. ות"ח על הכתיבה אודות סדרי הלימודים חלוקי הכתות וכו'.

ובודאי למותר לעוררו על פסק תוה"ק תורת חיים ותורת עולם שמעלין בקדש ובודאי לא יסתפקו עם המצב כמו שהוא עתה אלא יוסיפו בזה הן בכמות והן באיכות היינו במספר התלמידים ותלמידות וכן ברמת הלימודים. ומובן מעצמו שבכדי שיתוסף בהתלמידים והתלמידות צריכה להיות הוספה בהמורים והמורות, וג"כ הן בכמות והן באיכות היינו בכמות הידיעה בתורה ובקיום מצותי' ובאיכות הידיעות היינו בהבנה לעומקן ובקיום המצות בהידור. וכיון שהקב"ה דורש זה מאתנו בטח ניתנו הכחות על זה ולפום גמלא שיחנא.

והשי"ת יחוננו ביראת שמים טהורה אליבא דנפשי' שעי"ז נתוסף במצות בכלל ובעניני חינוך בפרט הצלחת השי"ת.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל ישראל לטובה הנה יכתב ויחתם לשנה טובה ומתוקה, והשי"ת יזמין לו זיווגו הטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
