Greetings and blessing,
I was pleased to receive your letter of 21 Elul*, in which you discuss your material situation. I have already written to you (see letter no. 2902) that "the wheel turns." There is therefore absolutely no reason to be affected. On the contrary, trust in Hashem and joy will hasten the positive development, as the holy Zohar*, volume 2, page 184b, explains.
You speak of your participation in my communal activities. These are, in fact, yours and those of all the participants who act, obtain concrete results, and upon whom the merit of the many depends.
It seems to you that you act only out of submission, without pleasure. You will therefore consult the Rambam*, at the end of the second chapter of the laws of divorce (according to which one who puts the mitzvah* into practice, even under apparent constraint, expresses, in reality, his most profound will — that of conforming to the Divine injunctions).
May Hashem grant you success in all these domains.
On the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing, I send my wishes to you, as well as to all of yours, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

נהניתי בקבלת מכתבו מכ"א אלול בו כותב אודות מצבו הגשמי, וכבר כתבתי לו שגלגל החוזר הוא ובמילא אין להתפעל כלל וכלל ואדרבה גודל הבטחון והשמחה ימהרו השינוי לטוב כמובן ג"כ ממ"ש בזהר הק' חלק ב' דף קפ"ד ע"ב ד"ה תא חזי.
ומ"ש אודות השתתפותו בעבודת הכלל שלי כו', הנה זהו עבודת הכלל שלו ושל כל המשתתפים שהם העושים וגומרים הדברים בפועל וזכות הרבים תלוי בהם. ומה שנדמה לו שעושה את זה רק בדרך קבלת עול ואין לו עדיין בזה תענוג, הנה יעויין ברמב"ם הלכות גרושין סוף פרק ב'. והשי"ת יצליחו בכל הנ"ל.
ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
