To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Avraham, who is called Dr. Goldberg,

Greetings and blessing,

After having been without news from you for a very long time, I received with pleasure your letter of 19 Elul*, then your greetings through the great Rav B. E. Gorodetsky (Rav Binyamin Eliyahu Gorodetsky, director of the European bureau of refugee aid in Paris). I learned with satisfaction from your letter that you will soon publish a book, the tractate Ohalos, with commentary and notes. This is doubtless the manuscript you showed me when you were here two years ago.

You mention the exchange of books (the sending of books published by Kehot in exchange for those, from Rav Goldberg, that are sent to the Rebbe's library; see, on this subject, letters no. 1250, 2078, 2213, 2826, 2989, 3026, 3076, 3105, and 3355), about which you spoke with Rav Gorodetsky. My library receives books sent by authors and institutions. Indeed, the Chabad* establishments use them in their work. I do the same in mine, for the greatest good of all. Many therefore wish that the books and brochures they publish be found there.

Rav Gorodetsky will write to you more precisely. I thank you for doing everything in your power to make this possible (that these books be included in the Rebbe's library).

We are at the threshold of the year that comes, for us and for all Israel, for good and for blessing. I therefore wish you, as well as all of yours, to be definitively sealed for a good and sweet year, in the course of which you will fully use your aptitudes and your influence to establish, in your surroundings, the spirit of Chassidus* and its practices.

לאחרי שלא שמעתי ממנו זה זמן רב נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מי"ט אלול ואח"כ גם פ"ש ממנו ע"י הרה"ג וכו' מוהרב"א שי' גאראדעצקי, ושמחתי לקרות במכתבו אשר בקרוב יו"ל ספרו מס' אהלות עם פירושים והערות. ובטח כוונתו להכת"י שהראה לי כשהי' כאן לפני שנתים.

מ"ש אודות חילוף הספרים שדבר בזה עם הרב גאראדעצקי שי', הנה הספרי' שלי מקבלת ספרים ממחברים וממוסדות כיון שלרגלי עבודת המוסדות חב"ד אשר כאן וכן עבודתי אני משמשת ספרי' זו לתועלת הרבים. ובמילא רבים מעונינים שימצא בה הספרים וחוברות שמו"ל. ובפרטיות יכתוב לו הרב גאראדעצקי שי', ותודה מראש אם יעשה את התלוי בו שיבוא הדבר לפועל.

ובימים האלו דתחלת השנה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני לאחל לו ולב"ב שיחיו חתימה טובה וגמר חתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה, ואשר ינצל את כשרונותיו והשפעתו במילואם להחדיר רוח החסידות והדרכותי' בהסביבה בה נמצא.
