Greetings and blessing,

You speak to me about the collection made by the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Ben Tzion Shem Tov, emissary of the Sages, for the benefit of the schools Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch of Morocco, of which I am the president.

It is exact and true that the pressures and constraints there are very great. It is doubtless unnecessary to describe in detail what is well known and established. In this case, the principal victims are the Torah and the mitzvos*, especially when it concerns education based on sacred values.

However, the standard of living is low in this country. A relatively modest sum, compared to what would have been necessary elsewhere, therefore permits, in this place, grandiose accomplishments. Certainly, the schools Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch already have, in Morocco, several thousand students. But each additional contribution enables them to introduce new students into the Talmud Torah* or the Yeshivah*.

It is true that one does not worry about the limited means at one's disposal and that one borrows money. The amount that can be borrowed remains, however, limited. You must understand what I mean.

Please transmit my greetings and my blessing to all those who participated in this collection, by contributing or by inviting others to do so. Without a doubt, Hashem will Himself fulfill the promise according to which "you shall tithe in order to become wealthy." In the future, you will therefore redouble your ardor in all of this.

With my blessing that you be definitively inscribed for a good year, in anticipation of your good news in all these domains,

הנה נכון ואמת הדבר, ובודאי למותר להאריך בדבר הידוע ומפורסם אשר הלחץ והדוחק שם גדול ביותר, ובמילא סובלים מזה עניני תורה ומצות ג"כ ביותר, ובפרט בשדה החינוך על טהרת הקדש, ומאידך גיסא הרי מפני רמת החיים שם שהיא נמוכה, הנה בסכומים קטנים לפי ערך מדינות אחרות יש לפעול גדולות, ואף כי בעזה"י לומדים כבר במוסדות חינוך אהל"י יצחק ליובאוויטש במרוקו אלפים ואלפים תלמידים ותלמידות מבני ובנות ישראל, הרי כל סכום שמתוסף בהקופה מוסיף כמה וכמה מבני ובנות ישראל בכותלי הת"ת והישיבות הנ"ל, ואף שאין מתחשבים בהמצב בהקופה ולווים, הרי מובן שגם הלואות מוגבלות הם וד"ל. ומטובו למסור תודה וברכה לכל אלו שהשתתפו במגבית הנ"ל הן העושים והן המעשים אשר בודאי יקיים השי"ת הבטחתו עשר בשביל שתתעשר ובמילא יוסיפו אומץ בזה להבא כהנה וכהנה.
