To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Nathan David (Rav N. D. Rosenblum, of Buenos Aires; see, concerning him, letter no. 3122),

Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter, in which you tell me that you had the merit of knowing, in Rostov, the Rebbe (Rashab*), father of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. You also had the privilege of participating in his Purim* meal in 5680 (1920).

I am sure that these memories transform your thoughts, your words, and your actions. Indeed, the vision of the face of the righteous and, all the more so, the memory of their teaching penetrate and pierce the heart, to the very essence of the soul.

I wish to emphasize, in this regard, that it is your duty to influence your surroundings in this matter, to bring them closer to Jewish values and — the most fundamental point — to the practice of the mitzvos* in daily existence.

You know the proverb of the Rebbe (Rashab*), related to us by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, according to which an effort is never in vain. I hope to have, concretely, good news from you in this matter.

Likewise, please specify to me what your family situation is and how you came to the place where you currently reside.

במענה על מכתבו בו כותב אשר זכה להכיר את כ"ק אדמו"ר אביו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר - זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ברוסטוב וכו' וגם זכה להיות בסעודת פורים שנת פר"ת, ובודאי אשר זכרון זה פועל עליו בהענינים של מחשבה דבור ומעשה, כי הרי מראות פניהם של צדיקים ועאכו"כ כשזוכרים גם דברי תורתם יורדים ונוקבים לפני' הלב עצם נקודת הנפש.

ובאתי בזה לעוררו להשפיע גם על סביבתו בזה, היינו לקרבם יותר ליהדות ועיקר העיקרים קיום המצות מעשיות בחיי היום יומים, וידוע פתגם כ"ק אדמו"ר ששמענוהו כ"פ מכ"ק בנו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ואקוה לבשו"ט ממנו בהנוגע לפועל בכל הנ"ל.

כן בטח יודיעני ממצבו המשפחתי ואיך נתגלגל למקום מגורו עתה.
