Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of 10 Marcheshvan*. I thank you for having announced good news to me, since you were the beneficent emissary, having brought a person closer to his origin and his sources. Henceforth, this man once again observes Shabbos*. Our Sages explain and rule, in the Mishnah* (tractate Avos*, chapter 4, Mishnah* 2), that "one Mitzvah* leads to another." No doubt he will improve spiritually in other domains as well. Obviously, for your part, you must remain vigilant until his observance of Shabbos* is complete.

You ask me in what manner you can strengthen him. It would be good to arrange, in a diplomatic manner, that he be occupied during the days of Shabbos* and the festivals. Thus, he will participate in a class, visit friends and acquaintances. Moreover, it would be judicious to find him patients (during the week; this man, beginning to observe Shabbos, is apparently a doctor), so that he can concretely observe an increase in his account books.

Obviously, he must also go to the synagogue, if possible with his wife. You know the saying that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, transmitted to us in the name of the Tzaddik*, Rabbi Meir of Premishlan: "When one is attached above, one does not fall below." Thus, the more he is bound to heavenly concerns, the more one will reduce the risk (that he experience a fall once again).

With my blessing of success in all these domains in general, and in the effort you are making to come here in particular,

במענה על מכתבו מיו"ד מ"ח, הנה ת"ח על הבשו"ט ממה שעלה בידו להיות שליח טוב להחזיר את... שי' למקור חוצבו ולשרשו ע"י שחזר להיות שומר שבת, וע"פ מרז"ל ופסק המשנה מצוה גוררת מצוה, בודאי יוטבו עוד ענינים רוחנים אצל הנ"ל אף שמובן שהוא מצדו צריך להתנהג בזה בזהירות יתירה עד שיתחזק כדבעי בענין דשמירת שבת.

ומה ששואל מה יש לו לעשות לחיזוק זה, הנה טוב הי' להשתדל באופן דיפלומטי שימי השבת וימי היום טוב שלו יהיו מלאי תוכן ע"י השתתפותו בשיעור או ע"י ביקורים של ידידים ומכירים וכו' ונוסף על זה להמציא לו (צו שארען עם) פאציענטן בכדי שגם בספר החשבונות הנ"ל בגשמיות יראה הוספה, ומובן שבהנ"ל נכנס ג"כ הליכה לבית הכנסת ומה טוב גם זוגתו תחי' וכבר ידוע פתגם ששמענו מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בשם הרה"צ הר"מ מפרימישליאן אז מען איז צוגעבונדען אויבען פאלט מען ניט אונטען, שמזה מובן שככל שתגדל ההתקשרות בענינים של מעלה יתמעט החשש הנ"ל...

בברכת הצלחה בענינים הנ"ל בכלל, ובהנוגע להשתדלותו בנסיעה לכאן בפרט.
