Greetings and blessing,

I have had the occasion to learn that you meet a certain person, presumably with his wife. You see him from time to time and even, recently, more often. It is surely unnecessary to specify to you that you must, each time, exert a positive influence on them, until their home becomes a Chassidic* household.

You know the importance of such an accomplishment. How much more so is this the case for these individuals, for this man has many disciples and everything that concerns him is therefore public. You have never spoken of all this and I therefore wished to emphasize its importance to you, to encourage you once more.

There is surely a way to reduce your melancholic feeling, the fear that this man might suspect that one wishes to influence him. And indeed, why fear this? The opposite is true! In any event, this fear does not justify losing the opportunity to bring this man closer to Chassidus*, its customs and its practices, or even to Judaism in general, which is also necessary, for he unfortunately has shortcomings not only in his ideas but also in his concrete actions.

I have met his wife only once. I hope, however, that she will not oppose all of this but, on the contrary, that she will assist him, at least in the long run. Without a doubt, she is capable of doing so, perhaps even more than he.

In anticipation of good news regarding all of this and also regarding what concerns you,

בהזדמנות נודעתי אשר נפגש הוא מזמן לזמן בזמן האחרון ולעתים תכופות יותר עם מר... וכנראה גם עם זוגתו של הנ"ל תחי'. ואף כי בודאי למותר לעוררו להשפיע על שניהם באופן המתאים פעם אחר פעם עד שיעשה ביתם בית חסידותי, כי בטח מכיר גודל ענין כזה בכלל, ובפרט בהנוגע להנ"ל שיש לו כמה מושפעים ובמילא ה"ז ענין דרבים, הנה כיון שכל הזמן לא שמעתי ממנו דבר בזה באתי לעוררו ולזרזו עוה"פ ועוה"פ בהכרח הדבר.

והמרה שחורה שאולי יחשדו הנ"ל שרוצה להשפיע עליו (ובאמת הנה מה רעש אם גם יהי' נחשד בענינים כמו אלו ואדרבה) הנה בטח ישנם דרכים למעט החשד. ובכל אופן אין להפסיד עי"ז ההזדמנות לקרב את הנ"ל לחסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי' ואפילו ליהדות בכלל שגם בהם צריך הנ"ל למלאות. ולצערי לא רק בהנוגע לדיעות שחסר לו דער גאנצער שטעל, אלא גם בענינים של פועל. וכפי שהכרתי את זוגתו של הנ"ל אף שראיתי' פעם א', תקותי שלא רק שלא תנגד לזה אלא גם תעזור עכ"פ במשך הזמן, ובזה בטח יכולה לעשות זוגתו תחי' ואפשר עוד יותר ממנו.
