To the association of Chabad* women and girls, Montreal chapter, may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless you and greet you,

I have duly received your letter and I took note with pleasure of the discussions and interventions that marked your meetings. It would also be good, insofar as someone is capable of doing so, that at each meeting one comment on the Parashah* or Haftarah* of the week, as well as those of the weeks elapsed since the last meeting. In particular, one will find material for this teaching in the Talks and Tales, in English or in Yiddish, published during the preceding years. It would also be judicious to broaden the number of participants at these meetings.

We are now entering the month of Kislev*, which includes the celebrations of 10 and 19 Kislev*, as well as that of Chanukah*. The content of these days will surely be presented at the meetings of the Chabad* women and girls.

May Hashem grant you success in all that has been said, which will confer success upon all the participants in all their personal concerns.

N.B.: I also reply to your question. You point out that there is, among the Chabad* women and girls, a great difference in age and therefore in interests and in the questions that arise. You ask me how to resolve this problem.

In my view, there are questions sufficiently general to interest all the members at once, while others concern only a specific age. It would therefore be good to organize plenary meetings, during which one will address these most general questions. On this occasion, one will also study the Sidrah* of the week or laws that all must know. Furthermore, one will also form groups that will devote themselves to the problems specific to their age. Obviously, if an older woman is present, she may also participate. Nevertheless, it is necessary that there be frequent plenary meetings.

I hope that those who have not yet participated until now in the meetings of the Chabad* women and girls will be attracted by these specific groups and, in this way, will also come to the plenary meetings. I wish that all of this take place in calm and tranquility, so that the action be fruitful.

אותי כיצד היא יכולה לומר זאת ,בעוד שבתחילת המכתב מתחילה בכך

שהשם יתברך ברך אותה עם בעלה בארבעה ילדים שיחיו ונמצאים

בארץ רגועה ,ואף כי הפרנסה באה בקושי מסויים ,עם־כל-זה מגדלים

את ילדיהם .וכשנזכרים בשנים שעברו ,הרי רואים שזהו נס גלוי ,אף

שמובן מאליו שיש לבקש מהשם יתברך למלא את מה שחסר עדיין,

וכשמתנהגים על פי דרישת התורה תורת חיים ,השם יתברך מתחיל

למלא גם את מה שחסר עדיין .ובפרט בנידון שלה ,זה צריך להתבטא

בכך ,להדר באכילת מזון כשר ,שמירת שבת ,ובכלל ,לחיות על פי דרישת

התורה ,והשי״ת יזכה אותה לבשר בשורות טובות ,בכל האמור לעיל.

בקורת רוח קבלתי את מכתבן מד׳ טבת ,בו הן כותבות אודות

ייסוד סניף אגודת נשי ובנות חב״ד בפיטסבורג .והשי״ת יעזור

שההתחלה תהי׳ בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ,וכך תמשיך כל העבודה של

האגודה ,להפיץ נר מצוה ותורה אור ומאור שבתורה אצלן ובכל

הסביבה ,שזה יביא תוספת ברכה והצלחה לכל אחת מהמשתתפות ,בכל

המצטרך להן ולבני ביתן.

במיוחד שמחתי לקרוא במכתבן ,שהעמידו לעצמן כמטרה ,לכלול

באגודה גם חברות מהרחוקות ,שבאמת הרי כל בני ישראל קרובים זה

לזה ע״י הקשר שלהם עם השם יתברך הנעלה מכל ההגבלות ,צריך רק

להביט בעיניים פקוחות ,ולהבחין כיצד כל ישראל הם חבריו .וכפי

שמבואר גם בתניא פרק ל״ב ,וגם ע״י אדמו״ר הצמח צדק כפי שמבאר

את מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך.
