Greetings and blessing,
Various books establish that participation in the redemption of a firstborn exempts one from eighty-four fasts.
One finds a discussion on this subject in the responsa Shem MiShimon, first version, section Yoreh Deah, chapter 29, according to which this participation is a means of atoning for the transgression of the covenant contracted through circumcision, which requires precisely eighty-four fasts.
For the time being, I have not found a reference to this statement in the books of Chassidus* Chabad*. But in any event, one can rely on those I cited previously.

... מובא בכמה ספרים אשר השתתפות בפדיון הבן הוא במקום פ"ד תעניות. ושקיל וטרי בזה בשו"ת שם משמעון מהדו"ק חלק יו"ד סכ"ט (תוכנו: שזהו תקון לפגם הברית שדורש פ"ד תעניות). אבל לע"ע לא מצאתי מקור לזה בספרי חסידות חב"ד, ובכל אופן גם ספרים הנ"ל ראוים לסמוך עליהם.
