To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Issachar Dov (Rav I. D. Gurvitch, director of Beth Rivkah* of Yerres, in the Parisian region; see, concerning him, letter no. 2802),
Greetings and blessing,
After a long silence, I have finally received your letter of 21 Marcheshvan*, which was however written in an extremely concise manner.
You inform me of the request formulated by certain parents, wishing that the students of Beth Rivkah* study sewing. This is a good initiative. Obviously, it is necessary to have a teacher (the Rebbe uses this term in the feminine) who knows this craft perfectly and not merely a few simple tasks. One must also have what is needed to sew in the best manner. Thus, one will acquire broader possibilities of earning one's livelihood through this means.
No doubt preparations are being made to make proper use of the festivals of the month of Kislev*, which approaches — that is, 10 Kislev*, 19 Kislev*, and Chanukah*.

לאחר שתיקתו הארוכה הנה סו"ס נתקבל מכתבו מכ"א מ"ח אף כי גם בו כותב בקיצור נמרץ.
בהנוגע לשאלתו אשר יש הורים שרוצים שילמדו את הילדות דבית רבקה גם מלאכת התפירה, נכון הדבר. ומובן שצריכה להיות מורה לזה היודעת מלאכה זו על בורי' ולא רק החלק הפשוט שבזה. אלא גם הנצרך לתפירה משובחת יותר שאז גם הפרנסה שבזה יש לה אפשריות יותר גדולות.
בודאי עושים הכנות איך לנצל ימי המועדים דחדש כסלו הבע"ל באופן המתאים הן ימי י' י"ט כסלו והן ימי חנוכה.
