To my close relative, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Zeev Dov (Rav Z. D. Ludmir; see, concerning him, letters no. 1925 and 2015),

Greetings and blessing,

I have duly received your letter, by which you inform me that you have returned home safely. You will transmit my warm greetings to the Chassidim* in general and to the students of the Yeshivah* in particular.

It would be good for you to go also to Lod and to the Kfar* (Kfar Chabad*). You will transmit my greetings there as well and especially you will send here, afterward, good news regarding the situation you found there.

Our Sages say that "the precept 'Love your fellow as yourself' is a great principle of the Torah." Now, writing good news is indeed a means for a Jew to express his love toward another. And the Holy One, blessed be He, acts "measure for measure" (He acts toward man in the manner in which man acts toward Him). He therefore enables one always to give good news of oneself and the members of one's family.

I received, these days, the first volume of the Talmudic Concordance. I thank you very much for this gift.

As you request, I will mention those you cite in your letter when I am near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, so that they obtain the satisfaction of their needs, in accordance with what you write.

נהניתי לקבלת מכתבו בו מודיע מביאתו שלום לביתו. ובודאי ימסור פ"ש לבבית לאנ"ש בכלל ולתלמידי הישיבות בפרט. ומה טוב שיחפש ג"כ אפשריות לבקר בלוד ובכפר ולמסור גם שם הפ"ש ובעיקר לכתוב אח"כ לכאן ג"כ בשו"ט מהמצב אשר מצא שם. והרי ידוע פסק רז"ל אשר ואהבת לרעך כמוך הוא כלל גדול בתורה, וכתיבת בשו"ט ה"ז ג"כ אחד מביטויי אהבת איש הישראלי לרעהו, ומדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה אשר תמיד יוכל לבשר טוב גם בהנוגע לעצמו וכל ב"ב שיחיו.

ימים אלו נתקבל הכרך א' של הקורקו[נ]דנציא התלמודית. ות"ח ת"ח על תשורתו זו...

כבקשתו אזכיר את אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בהמצטרך להם וכמו שכותב.
