To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav David HaLevi (Rav D. Edelman; see, concerning him, letter no. 3230),
Greetings and blessing,
I am surprised not to have news of those for whom you requested a blessing. I have said many times that it is desirable, for various reasons, after having asked for a blessing, to specify what has come to pass. May Hashem cause you to be a good emissary, announcing only good, always and every day.
You tell me that the students (of the Lubavitch Yeshivah* of Springfield) are few in number. You should consult your colleagues who direct a Talmud Torah* or a Yeshivah* in various cities, in order to determine how they increase the number of their students. Their methods, if they succeed elsewhere, will surely be effective for you as well.
One can, on this subject, formulate an a fortiori reasoning. If your financial situation is good, as you indicate in your letter, how much more must the number of students increase. And it is certain that an effort is never in vain, especially since the blessings of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, are revealed in all the institutions he founded and that are directed according to his spirit.

לפלא שאין ממנו כל ידיעות אודות אלו שכתב אודות פ"נ אף שעוררו אותו עד"ז כ"פ, שמכמה טעמים ראוי שידעו גם לאחר שילוח הפ"נ מהנעשה בזה. ויה"ר מהשי"ת שיהי' שליח טוב לבשר טוב תכה"י.
במ"ש אודות מספר התלמידים אשר מועט הוא. כדאי הי' שיתדבר עם חבריו מנהלי תו"ת או אחי תמימים בערי השדה אופן פעולתם להגדיל מספר התלמידים שבטח גם במקומו יתאים אם מצליח במקומות אחרים, והוא במכש"כ וק"ו. ומה אשר המצב הכספי הוא בטוב כמו שכותב במכתבו הרי עאכו"כ שיש להגדיל מספר התלמידים וחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ובפרט שברכות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שורות בכל המוסדות שיסד ומתנהלים ברוחו.
