To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Shlomo (Rav Sh. Matusof, of Casablanca; see, concerning him, letter no. 3010; the Rebbe also sent a letter of similar content to Rav Michael Lipsker of Meknes),

Greetings and blessing,

A) I have duly received your letters of 25 Marcheshvan* and 3 Kislev*, with all that they contained. And you have surely received my letter, in reply to your previous one, with the letters of the students (of the Lubavitch schools of Morocco) that were enclosed.

B) It would be good to reflect on the possibility of arranging that the students of all the classes — the boys and perhaps even the girls as well — study the laws and precepts applicable to daily existence (see, on this subject, letter no. 3048). Indeed, in the end, this is truly the goal sought. For it is the action, and not the theory, that is essential.

Obviously, I am not alluding solely to Casablanca but to all our institutions, and if I had the power, I would have arranged that the same be done in all the Jewish schools of the world.

It is good that you all consult together on this subject, so that this apply in the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch schools in Morocco.

Unfortunately, there does not exist a notebook compiling these laws, but one can choose several chapters from the abridged Shulchan Aruch*. And, in fact, certain paragraphs of these chapters may be omitted.

To reinforce this study, examinations on the practical laws should be planned. In this matter, I rely on your judgment.

C) I have, for the time being, no news concerning the city of Agadir.

D) Concerning the publication of "the description of the imprisonment" (see, on this subject, letters no. 3123 and 3375), you propose inscribing at the top of the cover the notation "pamphlets no. 34, 35, and 36," then, in the middle of it, volume 1, volume 2, and volume 3. This is a good initiative. Obviously, the dedication appearing in the book published here, established in the name of the donor, has no place in the edition you wish to publish.

I do not know how many brochures you will need for Morocco. But it would be good to print a sufficient quantity to be able to send two hundred to the Holy Land. You will send them, as a gift, to the Chabad* Association, 22 Fiarberg Street, in Tel Aviv. And you will also send ten copies here.

No doubt you are making all the necessary preparations for the festivals of 10 Kislev* (festival of the liberation of the Mitteler Rebbe*) and 19 Kislev* (festival of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe*), which approach for us and for all Israel, for good. May Hashem grant you success.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ה מ"ח וג' כסלו והמוסגרים שבהם. ובטח קבל מכתבי מענה על מכתבו הקודם, וכן המכתבים להתלמידים המוסגרים בו.

ב) בודאי צריך הי' להתבונן בהאפשריות לסדר, אשר בכל הכתות של התלמידים (ויש מקום לומר אפי' של התלמידות) ילמדו דינים והלכות הצריכות בחיי היום יומים.

כיון שסוכ"ס זהו כל האדם ולא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה. ומובן שכוונתי בזה לא רק לקסבלנקה אלא לכל המוסדות (אי איישר חילי, הייתי מנהיג זה בכל מוסדות חינוך בני ובנות ישראל אשר בכל העולם). ומהנכון שיתדברו בזה כולם יחד וינהיגו זה בבתי ספר דאהלי"י אשר במרוקה.

לדאבון אין עוד עדיין חוברת דינים מיוחדים כמו אלו. אבל יש לבחור סימנים מסוימים בהקיצור שו"ע, ובסימנים אלו גופא יש סעיפים שאפשר לדלגם. וכדי לחזק לימוד הנ"ל כדאי לערוך בחינות במיוחד בדינים הצריכים, ואל בינתם אשען.

ג) בהנוגע לעיר אגדיר, עדיין לא הגיעתני כל ידיעה בזה.

ד) בהנוגע לרשימת המאסר. נכונה סברתו לרשום למעלה ליקוט לד' לה' לו' ובאמצע השער חלק א' ב' ג'. מובן מעצמו שההקדשה לזכות המנדב שנמצאה בהחוברת שנדפסה כאן אין לה מקום בהחוברות הנדפסות על ידו.

אינני יודע כמה חוברות יוצרך לו במרוקה. אבל כדאי שידפיס בכמות כזו שיוכל לשלוח 200 חוברות לאה"ק ת"ו - בתור מתנה ע"ש אגודת חב"ד, רחוב פיארברג 22, תל אביב, ועשרה אכסמפלרין לכאן.

בודאי עושים הכנות הדרושות להחגים יו"ד וי"ט כסלו הבאים עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, והשי"ת יצליחם.
