Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of Tuesday of Parshas* Vayeira*, in which you tell me that you have arrived safely in that city and that you have begun your work there (as a Shochet*). May Hashem grant that everything go well and that you meet with success. It is surely unnecessary to remind you of what is emphasized in the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe* and the responsa of the Tzemach Tzedek* — namely, the necessity for a Shochet*, at the present time, to have a particularly intense fear of Heaven.

That distinguished Chassid* has surely shown you the letter I addressed to him (this is letter no. 3055), regarding the necessity of spreading Yiddishkeit* in general and Chassidus* in particular, in the place where you currently find yourself. You have surely seen the letter of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, commenting on the verse "Hashem prepares the steps of man and He favors his way," which observes that "the mark on the camel's back depends on the weight of the burden" (the result is proportionate to the effort).

According to your letter, there are three of you in the place where you now find yourself who have had the merit of tasting Chassidus* Chabad*. Now, it is said that "a matter is established by the testimony of three persons." You can therefore transmit this teaching, provided you display the appropriate eagerness.

One must also study the laws of the festival before it arrives, before preparing for it properly. This is the case for 19 Kislev* (the festival of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe*) and for Chanukah*, which are approaching, marking the victory and revelation of the luminary of the Torah*, which is its inner dimension, as various Chassidic* discourses devoted to Chanukah* explain.

I greet all those who are with you. You will organize a Chassidic* farbrengen*, in which all will participate, on the luminous day of our liberation and the deliverance of our soul, 19 Kislev*, which is approaching.

במענה על מכתבו מג' פ' וירא, בו כותב אשר נמצא כבר... והתחיל במלאכתו. הרי יה"ר מהשי"ת שיהי' הכל כשורה ובהצלחה, ובודאי למותר לעוררו על המבואר בשו"ע רבנו הזקן ושו"ת הצמח צדק אשר שו"ב בזמן הזה צריך להיות ירא שמים ביותר וביותר.

בודאי הראה לו הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ מוה'... שי' את המכתב אשר כתבתי לו אודות ההכרח לעשות בהפצת היהדות בכלל ובהפצת החסידות בפרט במקומם עתה. ובודאי ראה מכתב כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בתוכן הכתוב מד' מצעדי גבר כוננו, ודרכו יחפץ ולפום גמלא שיחנא, וכיון שעל פי מכתבו שלשה הם במקומם עתה אשר זכו לטעום מתורת חסידות חב"ד, ע"פ שלשה עדים יקום דבר, דבר התורה הזאת אם רק יעשו בזה במרץ הראוי.

ובהלכות המועד לפני המועד להיכון בעוד מועד, ובאופן המתאים לימי י"ט כסלו וימי חנוכה הבע"ל, נצחון וגילוי המאור שבתורה זוהי פנימיות התורה כמבואר בדרושי חנוכה בכמה מקומות.
