To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessing,
I am surprised that you have not written to me since your last letter, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah*. No doubt, this year as well, you continue to assume your sacred mission — that of education in Jewish values, in various circles.
As you know, our Sages teach, in tractate Bava Metzia* 85a, that one who teaches Torah* to his son is great, one who teaches it to his neighbor's son is also great, but the greatest is one who teaches it to the son of the ignorant. You will consult this text.
It is surely unnecessary to remind you of the necessity of organizing a Chassidic* farbrengen* in the proper manner for the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, that of the liberation of the Alter Rebbe*, of our deliverance and the freedom of our souls (see, on this subject, letters no. 3083, 3086, 3087, 3088), in the expression of our holy masters.
One must participate physically in such a farbrengen* and extend it by taking good resolutions, on this Rosh Hashanah* of Chassidus*, for the entire year. And when one opens like the point of a needle, the Holy One, blessed be He, opens like the portal of the Sanctuary.

לפלא שמזמן כתבו בערב ראש השנה העבר, לא נתקבל ממנו כל מכתבים ובודאי גם בשנה חדשה זו מתעסק במלאכת שמים חינוך על טהרת הקדש בחוגים שונים. וכבר ידוע מרז"ל (ב"מ פ"ה ע"א) אשר (גדול המלמד את בנו תורה) גדול המלמד את בן חבירו תורה וגדול מכולם המלמד את בן עם הארץ תורה - עיי"ש -.
בודאי למותר לעוררו להכנה בעריכת התועדות מתאימה ביום הבהיר י"ט כסלו הוא יום גאולת רבנו הזקן וגאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, כלשון נשיאנו הק', והשתתפות גם בגופו בהתועדות זו ובהמשכת ההתועדות בהחלטות טובות מראש השנה לחסידות זו על כל השנה כולה. וכשפותחים כחודה של מחט פותח הקב"ה כפתחו של אולם...
