Greetings and blessing,
I reply to your letter, in which you tell me that you wish to change the knot of your Tefillin* in order to adopt the custom of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and decisor of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and decisor of the revealed part of the Torah*. This is a good and judicious initiative.
You ask me about our practice of saying Psalm 25 in the Tachanun*. You will consult, on this subject, the commentators on the Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*, at the beginning of chapter 131.
