may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessing,

I have finally received your letters of 24 Tishrei* and 12 Marcheshvan*, which came after a long silence. And their delivery time was longer than usual. I thank you for having written, albeit belatedly. In the future, you will do so in due time, with all the useful details about your positive achievements in the dissemination of Yiddishkeit* in general and in the domain of Chabad* in particular.

May Hashem grant you the merit of announcing good news and expansion — quantitative and qualitative alike — in all these domains.

You will also take advantage, for carrying out these actions, of the propitious days of 10 and 19 Kislev*, as well as of the festival of Chanukah*. Throughout the entire year, the statement of our Sages applies: "I sleep in exile, but my heart is awake for the Holy One, blessed be He, His Torah* and His Mitzvos*." How much more is this the case during this favorable period.

Indeed, when a Jew opens, with the appropriate effort, like the point of a needle, the Holy One, blessed be He, opens for him like the portal of the Sanctuary.

Chassidus* explains what this means. The Sanctuary had no doors. It was permanently open. One therefore only had to enter the esplanade. Moreover, nothing separated the esplanade of Israel from that of the Kohanim*. One merely had to ascend steps. You will understand what this means.

לאחרי שתיקתם הארוכה סו"ס נתקבל מכתביהם מכ"ד תשרי וי"ב מ"ח - שארך זמן הילוכם יותר על הרגיל - ות"ח על כתבם עכ"פ באיחור זמן ובטח על להבא יכתבו בעתו ובזמנו ובפרטיות המתאימה ע"ד פעולותיהם הטובות בהפצת היהדות בכלל ובעבודה בשדה וכרם חב"ד בפרט והשי"ת יזכם לבשר טוב מהגדלת הענינים הן בכמות והן באיכות.

בודאי ניצלו לפעולות בהנ"ל גם ימי הסגולה יו"ד וי"ט כסלו וכן גם ימי חנוכה הבע"ל, ואם על כל השנה כולה קאי מרז"ל דאני ישנה בגלותא ולבי ער להקב"ה לתורתו ומצותיו, עאכו"כ בימי סגולה, כשפותחים - ע"י תעמולה מתאימה - באיש הישראלי אפילו כחודה של מחט פותח הקב"ה כפתחו של אולם, וכמבואר בדא"ח הדיוק בזה שלאולם לא היו דלתות ובמילא הי' תמיד פתוח ובלבד שישתדלו להכנס לעזרה, והרי גם בין עזרת ישראל וכהנים לא היתה מחיצה מפסקת אף שצריכים היו לעלות במעלות מזו לזו, והנמשל מובן.
