Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of 18 Kislev*. You ask me whether you should continue your studies in France (presumably at the Yeshivah* of Brunoy, in the Paris region), where you are troubled by bad thoughts and by your evil inclination.

I have already written several times that "the mark on the camel's back depends on the weight of the burden" (the result is proportionate to the effort). For it is, on the contrary, the study of the Torah* that provides the solution to such a situation. Certainly, secondary reasons may lead certain persons to change location. In such a case, you yourself and, in general, all the students of the Yeshivah*, will present your situation to the dean of the Yeshivah* and to its spiritual director.

Through an effect of Divine Providence, you receive the teaching of these individuals. They will surely be able to guide you in your personal concerns. This is therefore what you will do. You will accept what you are told, and this will be for your good.

במענה על מכתבו מח"י כסלו, בשאלתו אם ימשיך בלימודו בצרפת כיון שמחשבות מבלבלות אותו וכן יצרו.

הנה כבר כתבתי כמה פעמים שפסקו רז"ל לפום גמלא שיחנא, ואדרבה לימוד התורה היא עצה לזה. ובהנוגע לאנשים פרטים שאפשר ישנם ענינים צדדיים שצריכים לשנות מקומם. הנה בכגון דא עליו ובכלל על תלמידי ישיבה להציע מצבם לפני הראש ישיבה והמשפיע הרוחני שבהישיבה, שכיון שההשגחה פרטית סידרה שמקבלים מהם השפעה בתורה על ידם יוכלו גם כן לקבל הוראה בעניניהם הפרטים, וככה יעשה וישמע לההוראות שיקבל וטוב יהי' לו.
