To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and assumes a sacred mission,
Rav Chaim Moshe (Rav Ch. M. Weber; see, on this subject, letters no. 2832 and 3253),

Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of 8 Kislev*, in which you tell me that the administration of the Yeshivah* Toras Emes* (of Jerusalem) has appointed you as supervisor of the Chassidus* studies. And I am surprised that your letter informing me of this was so delayed.

May Hashem grant that you succeed in infusing your students with a sincere fear of Heaven, in making them reject all ostentatious behavior, in ensuring that the garment (the long frock-coat) is not the only thing coming from Jerusalem (but that the same apply to their inner conduct), as explained in the Chassidic* discourse entitled "And they shall come, those who are lost... and those who are cast away... and they shall prostrate themselves." May they carry within them "the holy mountain of Jerusalem," as this discourse explains.

This attitude will conform to the intention of the founders of the Yeshivah*, who truly direct it — our holy masters, whose merit will protect us. The Holy One, blessed be He, acts "measure for measure" (toward man in the manner in which he acts toward Him), and when one fulfills the precept "And you shall teach them to your children" — of which our Sages give the interpretation: "This refers to students" — one can also fulfill the words of this verse in the literal sense, with one's own children (Rav Weber had no children).

You have surely taken advantage of the days of Kislev*, month of deliverance, particularly 10 and 19, to organize a Chassidic* farbrengen* and take good resolutions regarding concrete daily action. You will inform me of this with the appropriate detail.

With my blessing of success in all that has just been said,

במענה על מכתבו מח' כסלו, בו כותב אודות התמנותו ע"י הנהלת ישיבת תורת אמת להיות משגיח לדא"ח (ולפלא שנתעכב מכתבו בענין זה כ"כ).

הנה יה"ר מהשי"ת שיצליח להחדיר במושפעיו יר"ש אמיתית היינו שיהי' תוכם כברם שלא רק הלבושים יהי' לבושי ירושלמי (וכמבואר בדא"ח בדרוש ובאו האובדים גו' הנדחים גו' והשתחוו גו' אלא שגם בתוכם יהי' הענין דהר הקדש בירושלים וכמבואר שם). ויהי' מתאים לכוונת מיסדי' ומנהלי' האמיתים, הם נשיאינו הק' זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ומדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה שע"י ושננתם לבניך אלו התלמידים, יבוא לקיום הציווי לבניך כפשוטו, בנים ממש.

בודאי נצלו ימי חדש כסלו הוא חדש הגאולה ובפרט ימי יו"ד וי"ט כסלו להתועדות חסידותית, וקבלת החלטות טובות בהנוגע לפועל בחיי היום יומי ויודיע עד"ז בפרטיות המתאימה.
