[24 Kislev* 5715]
You know the explanation given by our Sages regarding Chanukah*. They emphasize the connection between this festival and the virtuous Jewish women, on account of the conduct they adopted at that time, despite the difficulties and the many decrees they had to endure.
Consequently, our Sages observe, "they participated in this miracle." Moreover, it came about through their agency. Now, every year, at the same time, all of this is revealed in the same way, and it is therefore a propitious moment to strengthen oneself, to reinforce one's good conduct, as these women did, "in those days, at this time" (according to the blessing recited at the lighting of the Chanukah* candles).
Our Sages say that when a person acquires holiness and purity down here, new perspectives are opened for him Above. As my father-in-law, the Rebbe (see, on this subject, letter no. 3141), whose merit will protect us, says: "One must listen to what the small lights of Chanukah* tell." May Hashem grant that you listen to them, understand them and concretely apply their teaching in your daily existence.
