To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Avraham Dovid (Rav A. D. Rosenblat),

Greetings and blessing,

I send you my blessing and I thank you for the Havdalah*.

And may the eight separations of the Havdalah* discussed in tractate Pesachim* 104a ("In what order are the 'separations' of the Havdalah* stated? In the following order: He separates the holy from the profane, light from darkness, Israel from the nations, the seventh day from the six days of creation, the impure from the pure, the sea from the dry land, the upper waters from the lower waters, the Kohanim* from the Levi'im* and Israelites" — there are therefore indeed eight "separations") and in the Sefer HaMitzvos*, Mitzvah* of circumcision, chapter 5 (Derech Mitzvosecha*, page 14: "In the Havdalah*, we observe that He separates the holy from the profane, but we do not say that He separates the pure from the impure, for the Halachah* does not accept the opinion stated in tractate Pesachim* 104a. Indeed, the Havdalah*, separating the Shabbos* from the week, restores the veil that is removed during that day") lead us to the era when the harp will have eight strings (when Moshiach* will come, whereas in the era of the Temple it had seven).
