Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letters of 14, 22, and 28 Kislev*. I was pleased to learn that you organized a Chassidic* farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*. You explained this festival to the students.

In such a case, it would also be good to have some of the students speak, so that they feel more personally involved. Certainly, in general, they are helped to prepare what they will say. Nevertheless, they also bring their own contribution, and the fact of delivering a talk is, for them, very important.

You mention your state of health and the discouragement it inspires in you. You surely understand that this attitude goes against the Torah* in general and Chassidus* in particular. It is said that "the Torah* granted the physician the right to heal." However, a person must remember and be aware that Hashem "heals all flesh and performs wonders."

You must therefore serve Hashem with joy and enthusiasm, and be convinced that Hashem satisfies the needs of the one who serves Him, as various Chassidic* texts explain. There is no reason to meditate at length on your state of health, to ask yourself how you feel. All of this concerns the physician and not the person himself. It is unnecessary to say more, so obvious is this.

The merit of bringing Jewish hearts closer to our Father Who is in Heaven will protect you, so that you may give good news of all of this.

במענה על מכתביו מי"ד כ"ב וכ"ח כסלו. נהניתי מ[ה]התועדות שעשו ביום הבהיר י"ט כסלו ומה שהסבירו להתלמידות פרשת החג, ומהנכון הי' שבמקרים כמו אלה הרי ינאמו ג"כ אחדות מהתלמידות בכדי להמשיך אותם - אריינציהען זיי - יותר בהענינים.

ואף שע"פ הרוב מסייעים להם בעריכת הנאומים, הרי ישנה ג"כ השתתפות מצדם וגם עצם הדבר שהן נואמות ערך רב לו.

מ"ש אודות מצב בריאותו ושנפל ברוחו מזה, הנה בודאי ידוע לו שזה היפך תורתנו בכלל, ותורת החסידות בפרט, והתורה נתנה רשות לרופא לרפאות, אבל בבת אחת עם זה על האדם לזכור ולדעת ברור, שהשי"ת הוא הרופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות, ובמילא עליו לעבדו ית' בשמחה ובטוב לבב, ובטוח השי"ת למלאות הבטחתו בהמצטרך להעובד, וכמבואר הענין בכ"מ בדא"ח, ואין להתעמק כלל וכלל במצב הבריאות, און צוהערען זיך ווי מען פילט זיך, כי זהו מעניניו של הרופא ולא מענינו של האדם, והאריכות בדבר הפשוט אך למותר, וזכות התעסקותו בקירוב לבן של בני ישראל לאבינו שבשמים תעמוד לו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.
