To the participants in the Chassidic* farbrengen* on the luminous day
of 19 Kislev*, festival of our liberation and the deliverance of
our souls, in the synagogue of the rite of the Arizal*,
on Fine Avenue, in Montreal,
may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessing,

I learned with pleasure, through the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Moshe Chaim Sapatchkinski, the Shochet*, that you organized a Chassidic* farbrengen* on the occasion of the propitious day, "day of good tidings," in the expression of the Teshuvos Min HaShamayim* (chapter 5), the 19th of Kislev*.

Our Sages say that every time ten Jews gather together, the Shechinah* is revealed, even if they do not discuss Torah*. The one whose joy we celebrate (the Alter Rebbe*) explains this in Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 23. How much more is this the case when one gathers to commemorate the miracle of his liberation, which is also our liberation and the deliverance of our souls.

Our Sages emphasize, in this regard, that when "these days are commemorated," they are also "relived" — that is, everything is revealed anew, as it took place "in those days, at this time." It is therefore indeed a special day, a propitious time to become aware, to adopt good resolutions in the three areas (of the service of Hashem) that are the Torah*, prayer, and good deeds, and to put them into practice throughout the year.

These resolutions enable one to bind oneself to our master, the Alter Rebbe*. They are therefore the channels and receptacles conveying blessing and success, in order to satisfy the needs of each person, those of the members of his family, of all the people for whom the one whose joy we celebrate invokes Divine mercy.

May Hashem grant that each of us fulfill the mission entrusted to him, in order to disseminate the wellsprings (of Chassidus*) outward, in good health, physical and spiritual, and with breadth of mind.

נעם לי לקבל ההודעה ע"י הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ הרה"ח מוה"ר משה חיים שי' שו"ב ספצקינסקי מהתועדותם בקשר עם יום הסגולה, ובלשון שו"ת מן השמים, יום הבשורה, הוא י"ט כסלו, וכבר ידוע מרז"ל אשר אכל בי עשרה שכינתא שריא אף שאינם מדברים דברי תורה (וכמ"ש בעל השמחה באגה"ק סי' כ"ג), ועל אחת כמה וכמה כשמתועדים לזכר הנס בגאולתו, שהיא גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, אשר בכגון דא אמרו רז"ל, והימים האלה - כשהם - נזכרים - ה"ה - נעשים, היינו שמעוררים כל ההמשכות וכמו שהי' בימים ההם בזמן הזה, שלכן, כנ"ל, יום סגולה ועת מיוחד היא להתעוררות וקיום החלטות הטובות בשלשת הקוים דתורה עבודה וגמילות חסדים ולהמשיכם על כל השנה כולה, והחלטות אלו ה"ה עניני התקשרות עם נשיאנו רבנו הזקן, ובמילא גם הצנורות והכלים לקבלת הברכה וההצלחה במילוי בקשת כאו"א בהמצטרך לו ולב"ב, שבעל השמחה מעורר ר"ר על זה.

והשי"ת יזכה את כאו"א מאתנו למלאות תפקידו בהפצת המעינות חוצה מתוך בריאות הנכונה, הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות, והרחבת הדעת.
