I am surprised that you do not describe to me precisely the Bar Mitzvah* of this young man. No doubt the Chassidic* farbrengen* that took place on that occasion was used to draw hearts closer and to emphasize the importance of concrete action. In such a case, when those present know that they will have to give an account to someone of the decisions they have taken, they are more motivated and more inclined to put these resolutions into practice.
I am also surprised that you tell me nothing about what we discussed when you were here — that is, the great necessity of visiting, each week, a few people in your city, or at the very least, of speaking to them by telephone. This is, on the one hand, a means of drawing hearts closer and it is, moreover, a means of ensuring material livelihood, as I told you at length at that time.
Your silence seems to indicate that you have done nothing of all this until now. It would therefore be good for you to draw up a list of all the people you know and note in the margin the day you spoke to one of them or met him. From time to time, you will consult this list and it will remind you that you must also contact all the others. And who can measure the good that will result from this?

...לפלא שאין כותב באריכות בהנוגע להבר מצוה של האברך... שי' שבודאי נצלו ההתועדות לקרב הלבבות ולהתעוררות בהנוגע לפועל ובענינים כמו אלו כשיודעים הנאספים למי שהוא ע"ד החלטותיהם הרי זה עצמו מוסיף חשק בהם ומקשרים יותר להבאת ההחלטות בפועל.
לפלא שאין מזכיר דבר אודות מה שדברתי עמו בהיותו כאן מההכרח הגדול שבכל שבוע ושבוע יבקר או עכ"פ ידבר בטלפון עם מספר מסוים של מכירים ב... ושנוסף על קירוב הלבבות שבזה הנה זהו ג"כ ענין של פרנסה גשמית וכמדובר אז באריכות.
ומשתיקתו נראה שאינו עושה בזה לע"ע, ומהנכון הי' שיעריך רשימה מכל מכיריו, ויציין מן הצד היום שדבר או נפגש עם פלוני, וכשיעין בזו הרשימה מזמן לזמן, הרי זה עצמו יזכירו להפגש או לדבר עם עוד הנשארים וכו', ותועלת שבדבר מי ישורנו...
