Greetings and blessing,

I received your letter of 3 Teves*, which followed a long silence. You tell me that you yourself observe the possibilities of developing the Yeshivah* and what concerns it in a substantial manner. I am pleased. And I am particularly happy to learn that a kindergarten has been opened. The importance of such an achievement is inestimable, and you know what our Sages say about the breath of children who devote themselves to the study of the Torah*.

This is particularly so in our era. Indeed, the study of letters and vowels, as well as conduct based on the fear of Hashem, are entrusted to the responsibility of the school. For it is not always possible to rely on the parents, as was the case in the era of the Talmud* and even of the Shulchan Aruch* and its commentators.

You point out that there are difficulties. I am surprised that each of them puts you in such a state, when you can observe with your own eyes all those that have been smoothed over.

You speak of a secondary school, and not knowing the situation on the spot, it is difficult for me to respond in detail. You will make the decision based on the fundamental and essential idea, which is as follows: it is necessary for the Yeshivah* to become a center of Judaism, of Torah* and of fear of Hashem. Everything that will enable this objective to be achieved without imposing a concession with respect to the principles of the Chabad* movement must be done with the greatest zeal.

The Rav has surely told you about the school that operates here alongside the Yeshivah*. It seems, indeed, that the one you wish to create would adopt the same mode of operation.

What has just been said also provides an answer to what is said at the end of your letter. If doubt arises in a certain area, the criterion for determining the answer will be as follows: no concession must be made with respect to the great principles of Chabad*. One must not adhere to any party. Under these conditions, everything must be done to broaden this institution, quantitatively and qualitatively.

May Hashem grant you the merit and success of seeing with your own eyes, together with all the other Chassidim*, in good health, that the Yeshivah* is, in general, the channel through which one elicits and receives the blessings of Hashem, material and spiritual, for all the Chassidim*, together with the members of their families, and through them for all the children of Yisrael* who are there.

From this channel and this central path, channels and paths will develop for each one individually, as explained in various Chassidic* texts regarding the Divine revelation through the chain of worlds.

אבל היות שאינני יודע שום פרטים בזה ,פונה הנני אליו שיעשה
בזה ]כל[ מה שרק אפשר ,וכשאקבל ידיעה ממנו שאכתוב למי בזה ,מובן
מאליו שאעשה כן בבל המוקדם .וגודל הזכות שבענין כלל אין לשער,
וכל מי שרק יכול לעשות בזה עליו להחשיב זאת כענין של הצלחה
שמסבבים אותו מלמעלה שהוא יוכל לעשות בענין של הצלת עדת
יהודים שלימה ,להביא אליהם טהרה שהיא גם מקרבת את הגאולה.
