I received your letter of the last day of Chanukah* with pleasure, in which you describe to me the Chassidic* farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, the festival of our deliverance and the liberation of our souls. Obviously, I was particularly gladdened by the description you give of the unity that prevailed at that time, especially when I compare it to what you said in your previous correspondence.

The one whose joy we celebrate on 19 Kislev* (see note 1) grants his assistance in this matter, as the Alter Rebbe* himself writes in the letter he sent on the occasion of his liberation, which took place while he was reading the verse, "He redeemed my soul in peace." Indeed, the same was true for his son, the Mitteler Rebbe* (see note 2).

I hope that the unity will also express itself through spreading the wellsprings* outward. In other words, they must be brought also to those who, for the time being, still find themselves on the outside. To those people as well, one must grant the merit of having access to the wellsprings of the Baal Shem Tov* and his disciples, of the Alter Rebbe* and his disciples.

How beautiful is your portion! Indeed, you have the ability to act in this area, not only in a personal capacity, but also as the leader of a synagogue* that includes many Jews. Every appointment (see note 3) is an effect of Divine Providence*. In this way, you contribute to fulfilling the Will of Hashem*, by ensuring that "from sunset onward" (see note 4), there is an ever-increasing number of lights, until they shine to the point that "the night illuminates like the day."

בשמחה קבלתי את מכתבו מזאת חנוכה ,בו כותב אודות

ההתוועדות של יום הבהיר י״ט כסלו חג גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו .וכמובן

מאליו ,בשמחה מיוחדת לראות במכתבו את קירוב הלבבות שנתהווה,

ובפרט לגבי מה שכתב במכתביו הקודמים ,ובזה גם הסייעתא מבעל

השמחה די״ט כסלו ,כפי שאדמו״ר הזקן כותב במכתבו בנוגע לגאולתו,

שהיתה כאשר אמר את הפסוק פדה בשלום נפשי )שכך הי׳ גם אצל

אדמו״ר האמצעי(.

והנני מקוה שקירוב הלבבות יתבטא גם בהפצת המעיינות חוצה.

במילים אחרות ,שימשיכו זאת וירתקו גם כאלו אשר ,לעת עתה,

נמצאים עדיין בחוצה ,ויזכו גם אותם עם מעיינות הבעל שם טוב

ותלמידיו ורבנו הזקן ותלמידיו.

העליונה .ובמילא לשמש גם להשלים את רצון העליון אשר -משתשקע

החמה יהי׳ מוסיף והולך ,שעד שיהי׳ אור במידה כזו שלילה כיום יאיר.
