To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, of manifold accomplishments, Mr. David (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of the 15th of Teves*.

I was pleased by the information you conveyed to me concerning the positive actions you are undertaking to strengthen the study of Torah* and to disseminate it, particularly among the youth. In our era, this is one of the most decisive accomplishments, conditioning the perpetuity of our people.

No doubt, in all the classes you will establish, you will also teach, when necessary in brief form, the Halachos* that must be applied in daily life (see letter no. 3048). This practice will be instituted, for the purpose of man is to fear Hashem* and to observe His Mitzvos*. Indeed, the deed is essential, not the study.

Moreover, practice provides the proof that what is established allows the effective acquisition of this knowledge in the minds of those who study or who listen. May Hashem* grant you success in this matter.

I have good hope that the eminent Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, of manifold accomplishments, Rav* B. E. Gorodetski (see note 3), who is currently in Morocco, will make contact with you. You will therefore also discuss with him what you tell me in this present correspondence.

May Hashem* help you, as well as your friend, in your sacred mission of transmitting the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, Torah* of the living Elokim* and His Commandments, to those who listen to you and receive your teaching, so that all will put them into practice and thereby receive increased blessing, both material and spiritual.

במענה על מכתבו מט"ו בטבת.

נהניתי ממה שכותב אודות פעולותיהם הטובות בהחזקת לימוד התורה והפצתה, ובפרט בין הנוער, אשר בדורנו זה הוא אחד הענינים הכי חיונים ונוגע לקיום כללות אומתנו, ובודאי יסדרו לימוד הלכות הצריכות לדעתם בחיי היום יומים בכל השיעורים שנתיסדו על ידם, לימוד עכ"פ זמן קצר בכל פעם, אבל שיהי' בקביעות, כי הרי זה כל האדם את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור ולא המדרש הוא העיקר אלא המעשה עיקר, נוסף על מה שרואים בחוש שעל ידי הקביעות נחקקו הידיעות בנפש הלומד ושומע והשי"ת יצליחם.

תקותי אשר הרה"ג הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ איש רב פעלים כו' הרב"א שי' גאראדעצקי, שהוא עתה במרוקה יבוא עמהם בקישורי דברים ויתדברו גם כן בהנוגע להענינים אודותם כותב במכתבו זה.

והשי"ת יעזור אותו וחבירו בעבודה בקדש, להחדיר בשומעי לקחם והמושפעים שלהם את התורה ואת המצוה, תורת אלקים חיים ומצותיו לעשותם בפועל ולהמשיך על ידם תוספת ברכה בגשם וברוח.
