To the Rabbinical Committee of Brownsville and East New York, and at its head, to the eminent Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of manifold knowledge, who devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Moshe Binyamin (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have learned with pleasure of the gathering you are organizing this Wednesday, for the benefit of the Beis Rivkah* institutions.

I am convinced that there is no need to counsel you regarding alacrity. Nevertheless, our Sages* teach in the Sifri* that "one counsels alacrity even to those who naturally possess this quality." However, in this case, it is only a matter of emphasizing what is already established, even though external encouragement is most likely not necessary.

Likewise, it is no doubt superfluous to thank you, for the reward of a Mitzvah* is the Mitzvah* itself.

Despite all of this, I have decided to write you these few lines in order to remind you of the great importance that my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, accorded to these institutions, how much he invested in founding them, maintaining them, and developing them. Even now, he stands above and continues to fulfill his mission. He invokes Divine mercy for all who support education in sacred values, in general, and in particular, that of the Beis Rivkah* schools, so that these endeavors may bear fruit and that one may experience increased blessing and success, also in one's personal concerns.

I am absolutely certain that you will not content yourselves with merely beginning the Mitzvah*, but, as our Sages* say (see note 2), you will bring it to its completion in a positive manner — meaning that even after this gathering, you will intervene to ensure that the commitments are upheld and that one may obtain the means to repay the debts, to maintain and to develop the schools, as this period demands, so that the number of students may grow.

I pray to Hashem* that you may know success in all of this, and that it be considerable.

שלום וברכה! בנועם נודעתי ע"ד האסיפה שעורכים ביום הרביעי שבוע זה למען מוסדות "בית רבקה".

ומובטחני אשר כת"ר שי' אינם צריכים זירוז, לולא מרז"ל בספרי אשר אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין, וגם זה אינו אלא להעדפה, אף שבודאי גם בזה אין נצרכים לעידוד מבחוץ.

וכן בטח אינם נצרכים להבעת תודה, שהרי שכר מצוה - מצוה.

בכל זאת אמרתי לכתוב לכת"ר שי' טורים אלו בידעי עד כמה יקרים היו מוסדות אלו לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ועד כמה טרח ועמל ביסוד המוסדות ובקיומם ובהתפתחותם, אשר גם עתה עומד במרום ומשמש ומעורר רחמים רבים על כל המשתדלים בחינוך על טהרת הקדש בכלל, ומהם מוסדות בית רבקה, להשפיע הצלחה בעבודתם זו ותוספת ברכה והצלחה גם בעניניהם הפרטיים.

בטחוני גדול אשר לא יסתפקו בהתחלת דבר מצוה, אלא כמרז"ל יגמרוה בטוב, היינו שגם אחרי האסיפה ישגיחו וישתדלו שיבואו הענינים לידי פועל ממש בהמצאת האמצעים הנחוצים לסלק החובות ולהחזיק ולפתח המוסדות כפי דרישת והכרח השעה ולהרחיב גבולם בתלמידות.

ואני תפלה כי חפץ ה' בידם יצליח בהצלחה מופלגה.
