Greetings and blessings,

You conclude your letter by apologizing for the fact that, for understandable reasons, you have removed your children from the Lubavitch Yeshivah*. It is quite clear that in this matter, there is no cause whatsoever for you to apologize. This decision is your personal affair.

For my part, however, it is indeed a matter — both general and personal — related to love of one's fellow, but also a cause of pain. For I do not understand your reasons. I do not understand why you had to act in this way. I am therefore pained, because until now your children had the merit of studying in a school in which my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, invested his strength with self-sacrifice. And he continues to bestow blessing and success upon all who contribute their participation and, all the more so, upon the students. His blessing is not merely spiritual — it is also material. Yet the possibility of receiving it has been removed from your children!

I emphasize, nevertheless, that there is no resentment in this whatsoever, and certainly no anger. It is merely a feeling of pain inspired by love of one's fellow, all the more so as the matter concerns children who do not yet have a say in determining their own future.
