To the Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Chaim Hillel (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letters of the 3rd and 5th of Shevat*, together with the requests for blessings and the lists enclosed therein. Without making a formal pledge, I will read them at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us.

It is no doubt unnecessary to remind the Chassidim* who transmit such requests for blessings that they must, for their part, remind those who submit them of the explanation given by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose Hilulah* we commemorate, regarding the expression "rains of blessing" (see letter no. 2290).

The blessing is, indeed, comparable to rain, which brings considerable success only to the extent that one plows and sows. You will surely find the words to explain all of this. And Hashem* will grant you success.

No doubt the students of the Talmud Torah* have been told about the one whose Hilulah* we commemorate — who he was, what his life was, and some of his accomplishments, according to what they can understand. If this has not been done, it will need to be attended to now, during the days close to the Hilulah*.

May Hashem* cause these words to exert their effect on those who speak them and on those who listen.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתביו מג' וה' שבט עם הפ"נ והרשימות המוסג"ב, שאקראם בל"נ על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ובודאי למותר לעורר את אנ"ש על ידם מוסרים הפ"נ שמצדם יעוררו את המוסרים על פירוש כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בעל ההילולא בהביטוי גשמי ברכה, אשר ברכה היא כמו גשם שצריך להיות חרישה וזריעה ואז ממשיך הגשם הצלחה מופלגה וכו', ובודאי ימצאו את האותיות המתאימות להסביר הענין והשי"ת יצליחם.

בודאי הסבירו גם לתלמידי הת"ת ע"ד בעל ההילולא, דברי ימי חייו ומקצת פעולותיו מתאים לפי השגתם, ואם גם לא עשו כזה עד עתה יש לעשות עכ"פ בימים הסמוכים ליום ההילולא. ויה"ר שיפעלו הדברים בהמדברים והשומעים.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו בקדש מתוך בריאות הנכונה הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
