To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Yitzchak Zalman (Rav I. Z. Posner; see Letter #3044),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of Tuesday of Parshas* Beshalach. I am surprised that your interventions are so brief at the rabbinic gatherings in your region. You have surely emphasized there the importance of the practice of Mitzvos* in daily life. You continue to do so and you will go on doing so at every opportunity, for such is indeed the purpose of man: the fear of Hashem and the observance of His Mitzvos* (based on the verse, Koheles* 12:13).

In this regard, I have observed in your program that a session was devoted to words of Torah*. I would like to know the level of what was said and the content of the explanations given. Was it solely commentary, or was practical action also envisaged? The more details you provide me, the better.

I enclose a pamphlet that has been reprinted and annotated on the occasion of the days of the Hilulah*. Naturally, its content applies throughout the entire year.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מג' בשלח, ולפלא שמקצר כ"כ בתוכן נאומיו באסיפת הרבנים דהמחוז שלו, ובודאי הדגיש, מדגיש וגם ידגיש לעתיד בכל עת מצוא גודל הענין ההכרחיות המוחלטה בזמננו זה לנצל כל הזדמנות להדגיש הענין דקיום המצות מעשיות בחיי היום יומים כי זה כל האדם את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור.

דא"ג ראיתי בהפראגראם שהי' ג"כ ישיבה מוקדשת לד"ת ואתענין לדעת רמת השקו"ט ותוכנה, היינו אם רק לפלפולא בעלמא או גם בהנוגע למעשה בפועל, והפרטיות בזה תשובח...
