I greet you and bless you,

Your request for blessing for your son has been conveyed to me, along with an account of how he has been conducting himself. I will mention his name at a propitious moment at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, that he should fear Hashem, adopt proper conduct, and build a Jewish home based on Torah* and Mitzvos*.

Nevertheless, the following points must be quite evident:

A) You tell me that you have tried everything without success. But in such a case, one must persevere ceaselessly. Through each action, one can bring closer the realization of what one desires — especially when one speaks with warmth.

B) One must absolutely have total trust in Hashem, Who "performs wonders." Ultimately, He will transform the heart of your son so that he serves Him. It cannot be otherwise, and it is said that "none of us shall be lost."

Your trust in Hashem and the manner in which you serve Him joyfully, even in this situation — though this joy is tinged with melancholy — will hasten the change. May Hashem grant that it come at the soonest.

נמסרה לי בקשת ברכה בהנוגע לבנם... שי' ולהנהגתו, ובעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע ליראת שמים להנהגה כדבעי ולבנין בית בישראל על יסודי התורה והמצוה, אלא שמובן מעצמו, א) אשר מה שכותבים שעשו ככל העצות ועד עתה עוד כו', הרי בענינים כמו אלו צריך לעשות ולחזור ולעשות אשר בכל עשי' ועשי' מקרבים הענינים אשר מבקשים עליהם ובפרט שאלו הם הדברים היוצאים מן הלב. ב) מוכרח הדבר שיהיו בבטחון גמור וחזק בהשי"ת המפליא לעשות שסוף סוף יהפך לבב בנם לעבודתו ית' כיון שאי אפשר באופן אחר ובל ידח ממנו נדח. ובטחונם החזק ועבודתם את השי"ת גם בזה מתוך שמחה אף שמרירות מהולה בה ימהרו את השינוי, ויה"ר שיהי' זה בעגלא דידן.
