Greetings and blessings,

I was gratified to receive news of you through the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Shlomo Zalman Hecht. In accordance with your request, I will mention your name and those of all the members of your family at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that you may enjoy good health and material abundance.

It is surely unnecessary to remind you that, throughout the entire year, the Holy One, blessed be He, asks that we fulfill the precept: "Serve Hashem with joy." One must therefore rejoice in being a descendant of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov, in the fact that "you are children of Hashem, your Elokim*." We have the merit that Hashem bestows His Providence* upon each one of us, at every time and in every place.

When one has the honor of being in the chamber of a king of flesh and blood, one derives inspiration and joy from it. How much more must this be so when one is in the presence of the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He, as explained at length in chapter 46 of the Tanya*.

This leads us to a second idea. When one is in the company of the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He, one is aware that nothing can be bad. Indeed, no one other than Hashem possesses power. Sometimes, an event occurs whose deep good one does not perceive. In such a case, one must say that one has not meditated sufficiently upon this good. But, in the end, one can verify that "everything that Hashem does is for the good."

I hope that these few lines will suffice to suggest such a reflection to you. Thus, you will succeed in placing your trust in Hashem. Every Jew must strengthen himself in this trust, which he necessarily possesses, at least in a hidden manner. In this way, one will be truly joyful.
