Igrot Kodesh · Letter 34 — Reconnecting to Torah Institutions

To our friend, communal leader of multiple activities, Rav Moshe Dultsin, Mexico,

I greet you and bless you,

As a former student of the Lubavitch Yeshivah*, you are interested in the work of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, and you wish to take part in it. You will therefore surely be pleased to become acquainted with two important institutions, placed under the direction of my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, Machane Yisrael and the Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch*.

The periodical [1] of the Chassidim* Chabad* association, HaKriah VeHaKedushah*, has described the work of Machane Yisrael, as has the Morgen Journal*, in an article that you will find enclosed. Thank Hashem, the activities of Machane Yisrael have multiplied. Its members, from all circles respectful of the Torah* and Mitzvos*, are much more numerous than before. No distinction is made between any of the circles, which create Tehillim committees, committees for Mishnah* learned by heart.

While Machane Yisrael concerns primarily adults, the Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch is devoted mainly to young boys and young girls, to strengthen their education, so that it be as pure as possible. The Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch has very many sectors of activity. One handles the Mesibos Shabbos* and we have already sent you an account regarding this. Another creates girls' schools, evening courses for teachers and educators who observe the Torah and Mitzvos. Another publishes books for children and young people, in particular a monthly magazine, in Yiddish and in English, the "Conversations with the Youth." We have just celebrated our first year of publication, during which twenty-four magazines were published, which have aroused the enthusiasm of the youth, the teachers, and the parents.

It is unnecessary to mention that this work bears its fruits, strengthens the Torah and Judaism, and forms a new and righteous generation, which is a cause of honor and glory for the tradition of Israel.

It is said that "Hashem prepares the steps of man" and the former students of the Yeshivah, wherever they may be, receive a special mission — that of bringing light to the Jews they encounter, of acting, to the full extent of their means and with self-sacrifice, to spread outward the wellsprings of Chassidus*, especially in this era of Ikvesa d'Meshicha*. The obligation of the Yeshivah students and, in general, of the Chassidim is then greatly increased. They must put into practice the injunction "Love your fellow as yourself" and seek the good of others.

I am convinced that you yourself are striving to be active in all these areas and to take part in our sacred mission, which unites all former students of our Yeshivah, in the four corners of the globe.

We would be happy to hear from you by return mail, to know what you have accomplished in all these areas. From here, we are ready to assist you, by sending you the various materials you might need [2]. Thus, you will be able to engage yourself to the full extent of your means.

With friendship, I seek your good and send you my blessing, a blessing of immediate Teshuvah and immediate Geulah,

והנה כבר נכתב ע"ד עבודת מחנה ישראל בהקריאה והקדושה, הירחון היוצא לאור ע"י אגודת חב"ד, וגם בהעתון מארגען זשורנאל (וקטע לוטה בזה). ות"ל נתרחבו פעולות מחנה ישראל, ונתרבו חברי' מכל חוגי שומרי תורה ומצוה, בלי הבדל מפלגה, ביסוד חברות תהלים, חברות משניות בעל-פה, וכו'.

ובשעה שעבודת מחנה ישראל מוקדשה בעיקר לגדולים, הנה מרכז לעניני חנוך מוקדש בעיקר לבני ובנות ישראל, לחזק חנוכם שיהי' על טהרת הקדש. מרובים סניפי העבודה של מרכז לעניני חנוך, ביסוד חברת "מסבות שבת" (ושלחנו לו חוברת עם דו"ח ע"ד עבודה זו), ביסוד בתי ספר לילדות, שעורי ערב למורים ומחנכים חרדים, בהוצאה לאור ספרי קריאה בעד ילדי ונערי ישראל, ובפרט החוברת החדשית "שמועסן מיט קינדער און יוגנד" (באידיש ואנגלית), אשר זה עתה השלמנו בע"ה שנה ראשונה בהופעת 24 חוברות כאלו, אשר קנו לבות הצעירים, מוריהם והוריהם.

למותר להגיד כי עבודה זו ת"ל הצליחה לעשות פירות בהחזקת התורה והיהדות, ובהקמת דור חדש, דור ישרים, לכבוד ולתפארת ישראל סבא.

וידוע המא' מה' מצעדי גבר כוננו, אשר כל התמימים שי' באשר הם שם תפקיד מיוחד מוטל עליהם להכניס אור במושבותיהם של היהודים דאתר, ולפעול ככל האפשר ובמס"נ, בענין לכשיפוצו מעינותיך חוצה, ובפרט בימים אלה של עקבתא דמשיחא, אשר חובה כפולה ומכופלת מוטלת על כ"א מהתמימים ואנ"ש לקיים מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך, להיות ממזכי הרבים. ובטוח אני אשר מע"כ שי' יתאמץ להיות פועל ועושה בכל הענינים הנ"ל ולהשתתף בעבודתנו הק' המאחדת את כל התמימים בכל ארבע פינות העולם. ונשמח לשמוע ממנו בחוזר, מהנעשה ונפעל בזה ע"י מע"כ שי', ומכאן מוכנים אנו להיות לו לעזר וסיוע בהספקת החומר השונה, ואף מע"כ שי' יתאמץ בכל מיני מאמצים לעשות כל האפשר.
