To the Mesibos Shabbos* of Montreal*,

organized by Sarah Mindel* (S. M. Gerlitzki Shem Tov),

Blessings and greetings,

I received your letter with satisfaction, in which you discuss the Mesibos Shabbos* — the Shabbos* afternoon recreational gatherings, in this case for young girls — and the way they are organized.

Surely the festival of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah*, which is approaching, was discussed in these Mesibos*. During the Shabbosos* that precede it, one must indeed prepare the children for it. Our masters relate that Hashem, when He gave the Torah* to all the Jews, first ensured (see Likkutei Sichos*, vol. 5, p. 572; see also letters no. 1574, 1596, and 1603) that the children would be educated according to the way of Torah*. And it was when He received this assurance that He actually gave the Torah* to all of Israel.

Now, the same is true in every era. When the children are educated in accordance with the precepts of Torah*, every Jew is strengthened by it, regardless of where he resides, and the heavenly blessings are thereby revealed in all his needs.

Such an awareness must generate increased strength in each of you, among all the children of Israel, to whom Hashem will grant long life, so that you follow the way of Torah* and mitzvos* with even greater strength, and so that you also attract all the other Jewish children with whom you may come into contact. Those children will thereby be aware that they are the descendants of Avraham*, Yitzchak*, and Yaakov*, that they receive the Torah* from Hashem, "Who gives the Torah*," Who protects them and blesses them, materially and spiritually.

With my blessing for a joyous festival of Shavuos*, the time of the giving of our Torah*,
