Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you ask whether contemplating Chassidus* during prayer requires the exact repetition of the original text.

This is not the case. On the contrary, very often when one meditates on an idea without thinking precisely about that text, one concentrates more easily and derives more vitality from it.

Indeed, this meditation takes place after the precise study of the text, which provides the guarantee that one does not deviate from its meaning.

You ask whether one should also meditate on Chassidus before prayer. This is a wise practice, in accordance with the Halachah* ruled by the Shulchan Aruch*, according to which one must, before praying, meditate on the greatness of Hashem.

במענה על מכתבו, בו שואל אם המחשבה בענין של דא"ח בתוך התפלה צריכה להיות דוקא באותיות הרב.

הנה אינו בדוקא ואדרבה לפעמים תכופות כשחושבים הענין בלי דקדוק בהאותיות טראגט מען זיך מער צו און מען קריגט מער חיות וכיון שבא לאחר הלימוד והדקדוק באותיות הרב הרי בטח אין נוטים מן הנקודה.

בשאלתו אם לחשוב דא"ח גם קודם התפלה, נכון הדבר וכהלכה פסוקה בשו"ע שקודם התפלה צריך לחשוב ברוממות הא-ל וכו'.
