Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the fast of the seventh month (the Fast of Gedalyah*, the 3rd of Tishrei*), may it be transformed into gladness and joy, very soon and in our days. As you request, I will mention your name (at the resting place of the Previous Rebbe [the Frierdiker Rebbe*]), so that your heart and your mind may be opened.

You know what the best means is to obtain such a result. Our Sages state that "the Holy One, blessed be He, acts measure for measure." Thus, when one strives to persuade one's fellow to open his own mind and heart to the study of our holy Torah* and, in particular, its inner dimension, which is its Tree of Life, one achieves that the same be done for oneself, and one receives, in a considerably increased manner, the fulfillment of one's own needs in this matter.

This is in addition to the fact that "the reward of a mitzvah* is the mitzvah* itself" and that "one mitzvah* draws another." May Hashem grant that you transmit good tidings of all this to me in the near future.

I enclose a letter addressed to all, which will surely interest you, along with its English translation, which you may show to your children if you deem it wise. May Hashem grant that you give me good news of this as well.

במענה על מכתבו מצום השביעי יהפך במהרה בימינו לששון ולשמחה, כבקשתו אזכירהו לפתיחת הלב ולפתיחת המוח, וכבר ידועה עצה היעוצה בכגון דא ע"פ מרז"ל שמדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה, אשר כשמשפיעים על זולתו לפתוח מוחו ולבו בלימוד תורתנו הק' ובפרט פנימיות התורה אילנא דחיי, הנה במדה שלו עצמה מודדים אליו אלא שכמה פעמים ככה משפיעים לו בהמצטרך לו בענינים אלו עצמם נוסף על מה ששכר מצוה מצוה, ושמצוה גוררת מצוה, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בזה בקרוב.

מוסג"פ מכתב כללי, שבטח יעניין אותו, וגם העתקתו באנגלית שאם ימצא לנכון יראהו ליו"ח שיחיו, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב גם בזה.
