To the Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Chaim Hillel (Rav C. H. Azimov, of Paris),
Greetings and blessings,
I have duly received your request for a blessing for this person (who has apparently been summoned before a court). I will read it at a propitious moment at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe [the Frierdiker Rebbe*], whose merit protects us.
It should be explained to this person, in the appropriate manner, that what is happening to him alludes to the statement of our Sages that "the earthly kingdom is modeled upon the heavenly kingdom." The feeling that a judgment pronounced by men inspires in him should, a fortiori, provide him with an indication of the state of mind that should have prevailed during the Ten Days between Rosh Hashanah* and Yom Kippur*.
Hashem, in His great goodness, considering that the person's conduct during these ten days was not what it should have been, provides him with an allusion to this by bringing about a judgment rendered by men. This allusion will therefore suffice, as the Arizal* emphasizes in his commentary on the verse: "He will offer his cheek to the one who strikes him and will be filled with shame." In this case, this shame will suffice to discharge his obligation.
May Hashem grant that this person share good tidings regarding his situation, particularly regarding his increased commitment to Torah* — both the revealed dimension and Chassidus* — as well as to the practice of mitzvos*.

... הפ"נ בשביל מר... שי' קבלתי, ויקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ובאופן המתאים צריך הי' להסביר לו שכל ענין זה הוא רמז ע"פ מרז"ל מלכותא דארעא כעין מלכותא דרקיע, ואם תכונתו כן אשר בשביל משפטו של בו"ד נמצא הוא במצב רוח כזה, עאכו"כ איך שהי' צריך להיות בעשרה ימים שבין ר"ה ויוהכ"פ, אלא שהשי"ת ברחמיו המרובים, הנה למרות שהי' חסר בהנהגה דעשרה ימים הנ"ל עוררו אותו ברמז ע"י משפט בו"ד, ומספיקה התעוררות בלבד, וכפירוש האריז"ל על הכתוב יתן למכהו לחי (ובזה כבר יצא ידי חובתו ויפטר ו)ישבע בחרפה, ויה"ר שגם מר... שי' יבשר טוב בעניניו ומהוספתו בתורה (הן בנגלה והן בחסידות) ובמצותי'.
