Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from the eve of the festival of Sukkos*. You recount the praises of Hashem, His kindness to the children of man, the wonders that you were able to observe as a result of the delay in your journey.

May Hashem grant that this song of thanksgiving continue throughout the year. Its meaning is explained by the Chassidic discourses of the Alter Rebbe* and the Mitteler Rebbe*. It would be good to study them with proper attention, as it is stated: "We will render the bulls of our lips" — meaning that study can, in this case, substitute for the offering of thanksgiving itself.

You surely participated in the gathering organized by the Chassidim* during the propitious days (between Rosh Hashanah* and Yom Kippur*) and the joyous period (Sukkos*, Shemini Atzeres*, and Simchas Torah*) of the month of Tishrei*, whose scope is comprehensive for the entire year and which is satiated with all the good.
